Описание книги

These are psalms in the sonnet form–life's sonnets. They are about loss, hope, and Christ. They speak to the human condition, which Christ knew and addressed. They try to contemplate the Bible. They speak the messages of abandonment, finding, gratitude, searching, temptation, and peace. They struggle with indifference. They are about human beings, the wide things we care about mutually. These are poems about crying and cursing, blessing and loss, to move human beings by sonnets towards understanding, caring, questioning and answering. The simple language reflects the author's perception of how clearly and simply so many of life's questions can be reflected on. The depths and heights of emotion often call for common images to express them best. This is what the Bible does, and these sonnets seek to speak the language of the Bible, especially its poetry.

Psalm Sonnets

With palms in hand

When birds are murdered

A tale is told like a light

Rabbits ruined my plants

They are harvesting today

I’m waiting for the day

Befriend me in my shame

I love that I abide in liberty

In this bad world

The warfare is accomplished

One summer day

The snow is pure and white but I am not

When we came out of Egypt

The unjust know no shame

David lamented Joab was severe

When roses their spring petticoats forget

Two sparrows

You left and you are gone

The wind

You left our Christianity

We used to sit together clad in white

A gorgeous girl

The bracelets, signet, and the staff

I am lonely like Joseph

Gallant in solitude

An Egyptian life

God seems severe

Soar off, gray bird

You were not there tonight

I fear that I will die with all this debt

The kingdom and patience

The image of the Bridegroom

And now, because iniquity abounds

Love suffers long

In the moment of temptation

When Esau comes to church

Hagar is mocking Sarah

Enoch was not

You hear the trumpet

Since some cannot recall

All the beloved faces

Since I must finally die one day

A bastard shall not enter

Aaron

Someone accusing tells us

And do I have to talk to them

When Lot offered his daughters

Don’t kick me out

Into Jerusalem and see you weep

.....

And watch as you the bread of Easter break.

But then . . . Lord, is it I? Will I depart
