Monopolistic activities are having an adverse effect on the market economy, stifles competition, which is considered to be the heart of the market.

On the limitation of monopolistic activity and promoting competition, antitrust laws are aimed, formed in Russia in the 90-ies, when were adopted the laws «On competition and limitation of monopolistic activity on commodity markets» and «On protection of competition in financial markets» that defined the organizational and legal foundations for protecting competition, including preventing and suppressing monopolistic activity and unfair competition, restriction of competition by public authorities.

Further development of the law received in connection with the adoption on 26 July 2006 Federal law No. 135-F3 «On protection of competition», which combined the two previously existing law and increased the penalty for violation of competition law.

The book covers almost all types of monopolistic activity, the functions and powers of the Antimonopoly authority (FAS of Russia and its territorial bodies), as well as liability for violation of Antimonopoly legislation.

The adopted amendments (1st, 2nd and 3rd,4th) of the Antimonopoly packages do legal instrument against anti-competitive actions more efficient, allow to achieve a qualitatively new level of protection of competition, also include the expansion of powers of the Antimonopoly body.

The manual is intended for students of legal disciplines.
