Preface
ОглавлениеThe Krasnoyarsk Pillars (or Stolby) National Park (more commonly known as the "nature reserve") is a picturesque, specially protected area in Russia, located practically within the city limits of Krasnoyarsk. It was founded in 1925 at the initiative of local residents to protect nature from deforestation and stone mining.
This book provides a brief overview for tourists. The archive contains numerous photographs taken there at various times. I am publishing these materials to draw the attention of visitors to Krasnoyarsk to this interesting place—a recreation and sports center in a stunning, virtually untouched location, practically within the city limits.
Today, the nature reserve is one of the most visited in Russia, attracting approximately 1 million people annually. On weekends, up to 10,000 visitors follow the Central Pillars trail. The Krasnoyarsk Pillars is a landmark of the region and a favorite recreation spot for Krasnoyarsk residents. The reserve's main attraction is the syenite cliffs, reminiscent of giants, animals, and mythological creatures. The cliffs have a unique system of passages and tunnels.
Enjoy!
