Описание книги

St. John's gospel offers seven metaphors about Christ. He is the bread of life, the light of the world, the good shepherd, the door, the way, the truth, and the vine, a universal symbol of nourishment. He also promises everlasting life for the faithful.

Chapter 3. The Light of the World. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and void and darkness covered the face of the deep. And God said let there be light and there was light. Genesis 1:1–2 KJV. The Bible begins on a very positive authoritative note. The earth lay in absolute darkness, devoid of anything but a band of clouds so deep that all was darkness. God looked down upon it and then he commanded that there should be light, and light appeared. That light came straight from the throne of God. There was no primordial soup and methane which produced blotches of lifeless protoplasm after eons of years. Light was the first essential that was put on planet Earth to prepare it for the millions of varieties of life that were to come later. For life to exist on this planet there are at least four important elements which it must have:

Appendix 1. This subject the nature of Jesus Christ has been a controversial matter among many Christian believers. To my mind I cannot understand why it should be. First in my view it must be understood what the purpose of his first advent was, what He came to achieve and what He did accomplish. Before going any further, I must state that the Bible clearly shows both in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament that God is a trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Three persons yet one God. They are all equal in power and purpose. The deity of Christ is also clear in both the Old and New Testaments. Jesus Christ is the second person of the Godhead, the active person in the whole creation process according to St. John 1:1–2. It is also clear that He manifested Himself in the flesh and became a human who lived on this earth. St. John 1:14, St. Matthew 1:21–23. Before delving into the matter of his nature, it should be clearly understood His reason for coming. He came to rescue man from his fallen condition, after he deliberately disobeyed God’s commandment not to eat of the fruit of the forbidden tree. He also came to destroy the works of the enemy, and to banish sin from the universe and the world. Thus he would have restored the universe to the harmonious place it once was. Thirdly, He also came to vindicate the name of God which has been misrepresented. After pronouncing the penalty of death upon the human couple, because they gave Him no choice, then He dealt with the serpent. And I will put enmity. Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” Genesis 3:15 NKJV. This verse reveals two things. Firstly, God placed enmity or a spirit of hatred between the human family and the serpent who caused them to fall and disobey Him. Secondly, He opened a way whereby man could be rescued by bruising the one who caused them to sin, which will eventually bring about his destruction. However, man had to face the punishment of death which he brought upon himself. Adam the son of God. Adam was made from the dust of the earth. He was made in the image and likeness of God. God breathed the breath of life into him and he became a living soul. He was made a mortal being. Adam was given four things at that time. Firstly, he was shown what kind of food to eat in order to sustain life. Secondly, he was told to populate the earth with humankind like himself. Thirdly, he was told not to eat of the fruit of the forbidden tree. Fourthly, he was given conditional eternal life. Therefore he was placed on trial; he was granted conditional eternal life. Adam understood all three of those instructions. When Eve was brought to Adam, he also shared those instructions with Eve his wife. She knew and was aware of them. Both of them were sinless, and therefore had a sinless nature, which they retained as long as they remained obedient. In other words, their sinless pure nature depended upon their obedience. The human couple had conditional eternal life. When they disobeyed God’s commandment and ate of the forbidden fruit, then they automatically inherited a sinful nature forever. Jesus Son of God. The promise which was given to Adam in the Garden of Eden was not fulfilled until four thousand years later. The angel Gabriel was sent to Mary, a young lady who lived in the town of Nazareth, in Galilee with this astounding message. In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to the city of Galilee named Nazareth
