Описание книги

Captain James «Dusty» Morgan, is critically wounded during a NATO security patrol through Bihac, Yugoslavia, and one of his soldiers is killed. As Morgan recovers from his wounds, he stumbles upon the reason for the rash of weapon failures that have caused the deaths of six other soldiers and that continue to plague parts of the Canadian army. Meanwhile, Quebec’s separatist government, the Parti Quebecois, calls a referendum to secede from Canada. Quebec-born members of the Canadian military loyal to a sovereign Quebec move to gain control of two strategic assets: pipelines carrying natural gas to the United States and the James Bay Project – Quebec’s major power source and supplier to the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. Morgan’s investigation plunges him into the world of national politics, corporate intrigue, and a battle for the very future of Canada itself – a battle that will see Canadian soldiers firing on Canadian soldiers.

“Frank, that war started over two hundred years ago, and it’ll probably go for two hundred more. I just happened to bring it inside these walls. Here,” he said, and tossed the ball to Emerson, “I think I should talk to the boss before this gets blown out of proportion.”

Emerson looked at the ground. “He’s right, you know, sir.”
