It was a plain signet ring with his initials, S.J.W., engraved on it. Underneath is a secret compartment that contains the gold dust. It’s worked by a secret spring lock and Jean’s grandfather discovered it only a few years ago. What does the ring mean but that there’s more gold dust buried in Panama? Even Jean’s aunt insists that must be so.”
