This study looks at the relationship between two distinct substances of the human psyche – the mental (subjective) and the material (verbal) – in the context of comprehending the nature of word awareness. This book presents results from a long-term empirical study of the vocal and motor actions of infants in their first year of life. It analyzes the main forms of the nervous system’s responses, that lead to awareness of actions and then words, with an emphasis on innate abilities: sensitivity, activity and learning ability. It is shown that further child development process can be characterized as the continuous formation, storage and usage of semantic contents: the verbal network, polysemic types, text structures and others. This is a new aspect of language representation relative to currently existing ones.
