</title><p>Тик-так-тик-так – механические часы отсчитывали секунды. Ожидание хуже смерти. Пришли данные о готовности колонны.</p>
<p>Мэр сел в последний раз в кресло, проверил поступившие данные. Все готово, пора!</p>
<p>Шесть часов назад была совершена диверсия. Сначала отказала связь. Два часа спустя – транспортные и производственные системы. За ними – некоторые энергетические системы. Город медленно умирал, погибла команда службы безопасности.</p>
<p>Полярный был крупным городом, с населением в пятьсот тысяч человек, одним из центров Арктики, крупным промышленным и транспортным узлом с автономной пищевой промышленностью и атомной энергосистемой. Город будущего, надежда человечества, ступень в колонизации марса, один из столпов космической программы России и всей Земли.</p>
<p>Взвыл сигнал тревоги.</p>
<p>– Всем гражданам города! Сбор на центральной площади!</p>
<p>В центре, на импровизированной трибуне, администрация ожидала жителей.</p>
<p>– Внимание! Вчера в городе была совершена внутренняя диверсия. Цель – прекращение работы городских систем. Через несколько часов энергосистема прекратит работу. Возможен взрыв реакторов – сообщил жителям города мэр – транспорт и связь не функционируют. Радиоэфир забит помехами. Попытки ликвидировать аварийную ситуацию, не привели к успеху. В таких условиях я принял решение о перемещении всего населения города. Мы создаем автомобильный поезд из транспорта геолого-разведывательной службы и всех имеющихся вездеходов. Через час, все кто желает покинуть город, должны присутствовать в гаражном отделении геологической службы. Всем брать только минимальный набор вещей.</p>
<p>– Война началась? – выкрикнул кто-то из зала</p>
<p>– Неужели американцы решились на самоубийство?</p>
<p>– Прекратите балаган! Никому в городе не известно о текущей ситуации в остальном мире. Действуем по обстановке – ответил мэр</p>
<p>Полярный перерабатывал полезные ископаемые, добытые в арктических районах, поэтому имел большой парк автономного транспорта.</p>
<p>Купол гаража имел размеры пятьдесят метров в высоту и около километра в диаметре. Все машины были готовы и ожидали отъезда.</p>
<p>Мэр стоял в центре строения вместе с группой ближайших помощников и обсуждал место назначения будущей экспедиции.</p>
<p>– Что нам известно о статусе ближайших городов?</p>
<p>– Сигнал с беспилотников не поступает. Реактивные самолеты еще не вернулись с облета</p>
<p>– Что с городским реактором?</p>
<p>– Нестабилен. Возможен взрыв.</p>
<p>– Выезжаем. С целью определимся позже. Направление – юго-восток</p>
<p>Группа разошлась по вездеходам и транспортерам.</p>
<p>Ворота купола открылись и машины двинулись в снежную пустыню.</p>
<p>Прошел час. Вездеход руководства экспедиции отъехал в сторону от колонны. Мэр и его помощники наблюдали за неспешным движением транспорта. Автомобильная колонна растянулась на несколько километров. Алексей Ерофеев, глава геолого-разведывательной службы, поднял глаза вверх. В ночном небе огненным танцем светило северное сияние, переливаясь красочными мазками. Яркие звезды в ночном небе напомнили ему строки Ломоносова: " Открылась бездна, звезд полна; Звездам числа нет, бездне дна." Пока Ерофеев декламировал Ломоносова, пар оседал на его бороде звездными снежинками.</p>
<p>Взрыв основного купола города прервал геолога, но он так и остался стоять с открытым ртом. Взрывная волна снесла все остальные купола города. В небе пронеслись и упали за группой людей обломки металлических конструкций.</p>
<p>Остатки города горели ярким красным пламенем. Глава медицинской службы предложил покинуть район в связи с угрозой радиактивного заражения.</p>
<p>– Сколько мы потеряли людей? – спросил мэр</p>
<p>– Девяносто процентов колонны не успело покинуть гараж.</p>
<p>– Попытайтесь связаться с самолетами. Нам нужны данные по другим городам</p>
<p>Весь следующий день колонна двигалась по снежной пустыне. Самостоятельно человек не способен выжить в этом белом аду. Только в налаженной инфраструктуре городов возможна жизнь. Экстремальные условия окружающей среды, новые города были частью программы по колонизации Марса. Города строились Россией в арктике, антарктике, пустынях аравии, везде, где возможны экстремальные условия. Колонна двигалась при свете дня, в темное время суток останавливаясь на привал.</p>
<p>Ночью руководство экспедиции собралось для обсуждения потерь и дальнейших планов.</p>
</section><section><title><p>Берингия</p>
</title><p>Из городов, способных принять беженцев, ближайшим была Берингия.</p>
<p>– Может быть, вооруженные силы предотвратили диверсию. Военный форпост все-таки.</p>
<p>– Связи с самолетами нет. Скорее всего, мы их потеряли.</p>
<p>Колонна состояла из машин двух типов – гусеничные двухметровой высоты вездеходы вмещающие до сотни человек, и гигантские пятиметровые транспортники, в которых размещалось до трех сотен человек.</p>
<p>– Сколько людей удалось спасти? Что по количеству машин в колонне?</p>
<p>– Всего в колонне находится девяносто четыре транспортника и тридцать шесть вездеходов. Спасено тридцать две тысячи из полумиллиона.</p>
<p>– Что с кадровым составом? Кого удалось спасти?</p>
<p>– Сбор людей проходил хаотично. Автоматика во время диверсии вышла из строя, поэтому проводим опрос выживших вручную.</p>
<p>Линия машин растянулась от горизонта до горизонта. Ерофеев смотрел со смотровой площадки транспорта на пробегающую мимо белую пустыню. В эпоху последнего ледникового периода, местный пейзаж был совершенно иным. Арктику и территории от Европы до Берингии занимала тундростепь, в которой обитали зубры, лошади и мамонты. Земля за все время своего существования множество раз меняла свой климат. Временами, была полностью покрыта льдом. Ерофеев был абсолютно уверен – вне зависимости от действий людей, биосфера сохранится. Не менее оптимистичен он был в оценке желания человечества к выживанию. Все катастрофы, человеческий вид переживал с трагическим стоицизмом. Какие бы испытания не приготовили боги людям, Ерофеев знал – люди достойны нести свет разума к звездам. Это предназначение не позволит погибнуть человеческой расе. Вполне возможно, вид пройдет через очередной кризис, и проявится эффект "бутылочного горлышка" – сокращение генофонда и как следствие, генетического разнообразия популяции, но человечество не исчезнет. Вселенная бросила вызов человеку, который люди не имеют морального права игнорировать. "Эволюция – череда катастроф. Стабильность – стагнация, застой и смерть" – такой взгляд на мир сформировался у Ерофеева за годы работы геологом.</p>
<p>В детстве Алексей познакомился с творчеством Ефремова, что в дальнейшем повлияло на выбор профессии. Вся окружающая декаденствующая и пессимистическая столичная культура вызывала у него чувство брезгливости. Затем была русская революция и космическая программа. Он в числе первых ринулся на освоение Арктики – подальше от столицы, ее шелухи и гламура.</p>
<empty-line/><p>В конце второй недели арктического похода, экспедиция добралась до Берингии. Открылась дверь ведущего транспортника, с которого по лестнице сошли Ларинов и Пархоменко. Постепенно, за главной машиной останавливались все остальные. В десяти километрах от колонны была Берингия – цель похода. Белые купола города прятались в окружающей снежной пустыне. Ларинов облегченно вздохнул – поход завершен, беженцы смогут разместиться в городе. Усиленная противоракетная защита не позволят разрушить город. Порыв северного ветра обжег лицо Ларинова. На небе промелькнули темные тени. Центральный купол схлопнулся от взрыва внутри корпуса, а через секунду ракеты яростным огненным ливнем пролились на оставшиеся купола.</p>
<empty-line/><p>Нагретый взрывом воздух поднялся вверх, закрутился кольцеобразным вихрем и потянул за собой "ножку" – столб пепла, пыли и дыма с поверхности. По краям вихрь превратился в грибовидное облако. Гриб взрыва вырос над над Берингией.</p>
<p>В мгновение город превратился в груду пылающих осколков. Черный пепел летал над остатками мертвого гиганта. Яркие огни немногочисленных пожаров догорали на месте только что стоявшей крепости. Холодный северный ветер сменился жарким горячим воздухом взрыва. Вместе с ветром, в лицо летели снег, пепел забивался в горло, пластик и металлические куски пулями пролетали мимо людей.</p>
<p>Ерофеев процитировал отрывок из Бхагавад-гиты: "Я – смерть, разрушитель миров". Ларинов бросил злой взгляд на геолога. Его начала раздражать манера Ерофеева читать вслух отрывки из классики в кризисные моменты.</p>
<p>– Уходим – приказал Ларинов и направился к транспортнику, резко обернулся и спросил – Ерофеев, вы нормальный? У вас совсем отсутствует сочувствие к жертвам?</p></section></section><section id="litres_trial_promo">
