Go Prepared Be Organized

Оглавление

Doctors make their diagnoses on the basis of symptoms. However, different people with the same illness may present with different symptoms. It can be a minefield – for both you and your doctor. So before your visit it’s a good idea to sit down and think about the questions that your doctor may ask you. These include:

What are your exact symptoms?

When did they start?

Are they the same, or have they changed at all?

Are they getting worse?

How severe are they? If you’re bleeding, for example, is the blood dripping into the toilet every time you pass a stool, or is it a small bright red streak that is just visible on the toilet paper?

Have you been travelling – especially to exotic or undeveloped countries?

Is anything different in your lifestyle – e.g. stress, your work pattern or job, are you eating different food, taking medicines, or have you had a tummy bug or other illness?

Is there anything else you believe is relevant, or may be connected?
