The present book is devoted to comparative analysis of conceptual ideas to combat crime of ancient Rome and modern criminal law. The monograph presents a brief sketch of the development of Roman (Greek-Roman) law, retraces the process of assimilating and remaking Mediterranean legal orders on the territories of eastern Slavs, presents branch glossary, and the selection of examples of skilful use of Latin in rhetoric, pleadings, correspondence, fiction.

The book is recommended to teaching staff and students of law schools as well as to historians and admirers of Romance philology and Latin.
