The Secured Transactions Guide reiterates the discussion and recommendations of the Insolvency Guide with regard to the basic effectiveness of a security interest, as well as with regard to the avoidance and the continuation or rejection of contracts. It also adds a recommendation which is in line with the discussion of this matter in the Insolvency Guide. According to that recommendation, the secured creditor may take action to preserve the third-party effectiveness of a security interest that was effective against third parties at the time of commencement of insolvency proceedings (e.g., renew a registration but not take possession of assets)21.
