In the 1970s, the influence of second-wave feminism in the lesbian community meant that gay women were thinking critically about the objectification of women, and consequently, were careful not to objectify one another. More recently, third-wave feminism and queer theory, both highly focussed on the linguistic power of “taking back” words, have become more influential, and many lesbian-specific and reappropriated terms are coming into use.

Stacked: the recent theorizing of femme as an independent gender expression has lead to a resurgence of many pulpy adjectives, i.e.: glam, foxy, lovely.
Buxom: fat activists like Nomy Lamm and Beth Ditto challenge the sizist leanings of the queer community by presenting sexually confident personas and choosing to celebrate their curves when they describe themselves. Also: buxom, curvy, busty.
