The Clouds, the Rain, and I

It was a hot sticky day of traveling in the desert as I was wearing my shorts with sew-on flannel patches that kept the jeans together and a tank top where I was burning my shoulders to a crisp; that’s when I happened to find myself lost in a desert. In this shiny dust bowl after entering a somewhat barren land, I was walking to a place that I didn’t have any idea where, and now I’m suspicious of where I came.

My sense of direction has led me a stray trying to find my correction! My selection has caused me to lose my perception!

Puzzled by this, now I know I was looking for my perfection!

My question was, “Will somebody help me with a suggestion?”

Talking to myself, “Are we going to go back around to find you, to help me out with my inception?”

Standing there confusing myself after walking for a while in the heated sand, I was glancing around with my hand tilted sideways on my forehead blocking out the sun.

We were looking for any signs of life that we could go to. Those mystical waves coming up out of the sand were floating in the air, making it hard to see straight. The sun’s powerful heat continually beating upon my skin; it felt as if we were cooking ourselves on a barbeque pit. The perspiration that was dripping off me, we could fill a cup up in no time.

Staggering in my footprints, the sand seemed to sink below my ankle line on each step I took. One thing I realized was that we ran out of water three hours back. Only if I had saved some water for later, I wouldn’t be drenched and seeing wavy steam lines.

It was time to take a break. I was getting tired and exhausted from walking in the sand. While sitting on the hot sand, I made sure I wasn’t exposing any skin to the sand; it probably would of burn the skin off my hide. Wiping the sweat off my face using my T-shirt, I happen to glance at a hill side dune; there seemed to be a shadowy reflection over the hill.

Thinking I may see mirages, I took another quick glimpse over the hill and saw a tall object glaring off the sun from a distance. I thought I’ll walk toward that place.

The heat was starting to get unbearable while dragging my feet up this hill. Steamy waves rising toward the skyline kind of put me in a dreamy sensation.

In this warm stuffy terrain, the air seemed to become denser and a little harder to breathe.

My destination seemed to look farther away than what we thought. In my delirious mind, I was getting “closer and closer” with each step I took. When we approached within eyesight, I saw it, one of the biggest oak trees I ever seen.

“Glaring at its gleaming leaves and branches” made me think I’m going to sit down under the shade of this big oak tree and rest. With an awe expression, “I saw grass that encircled this nice moist tree.” While resting, we laid our head against the trunk and closed our eyes trying to relax from this hot day.

About the time we started to sleep, a strange behavior within the vicinity had woke me up. Looking all around, we pondered, “Where are these sounds coming from?”

There was nothing in sight, not even the wind was blowing. There was no living creature crawling or running across the horizon of this open domain. I kept glancing for movement or noises, but it was quiet. I thought to myself we must be hearing things.

As we lay back once again, “I heard snickering giggles and short burst of laughter” surrounding me from the air! There also was “muttering voices” you could barely perceive. This made me think out loud and wonder, “What’s happening?” It was as if someone was pulling practical jokes on my account.

With a hasty glance, I looked upon the sky, amazed only to see “two lonely clouds,” and they seemed to be bumping into each other while they were smiling. So I sat there staring at them for a while; there wasn’t anything else to see or do.

Whatever the noise was somehow it disappeared, but this put a suspicious thought in my head. Well, I decided to lie back with my head against the tree and tried to rest again.

After a few minutes passed by, I heard a “squeak commenced to tapping,” and the “loudness of footsteps started rapping, the thunder sounding off with a clippity-clap-clop” commotion was opening up with a curious melody being drawn out!

While glaring up, I was hearing a tone of harmony as if it was playing in a choir band. The song seemed to remain the same when the action in the sky started performing some unusual ritual that I have never seen before!

At this time, I noticed a “small side hutch window open” between the two clouds, a hand throws something, and as it flies out, then the hutch proceeded to close again!

This window had done this several times every few minutes making me hesitate and watch to see what was going to happen next. I got a glimmer of what was being thrown out; it looked like a sheet of paper, and it would float tossing and rocking like a child’s cradle in the sky. The way those two clouds were carrying on it looked as if there was some sort of a message being addressed to them.

When the “window had closed” completely, it seem to blend in with the sky. There was no trace of it ever being there! I was astonished. Where did the window go?

Staring at the sky, the event seemed to come to an end. “I saw the two clouds” started talking to each other about the note that was thrown out of the window. I interrupted them to ask, “What type of clouds are you?”

They answered back with a tone of anger in their voice saying, “Cumulus!” Then they commenced on talking again. With curiosity on my mind, I pondered with a question, “What are your names?” The one cloud roared back and said, “What is this twenty question? Now leave us alone. We have serious business to discuss, and then it will be our playtime.”

So I sat beside the tree to relax, and we couldn’t quite hear what the discussion was all about. But I was inquisitive about what was on the paper that “flew out of the window.”

The one cloud said, “Well, it’s time to have fun.” And he began shooting cloud balls at the other cloud. So the cloud being shot at started throwing smoke bubbles back at his murky pal.

Every so often, they would glance down to see if there was anybody listening to their conversation while echoing their voices with laughter. They were commenting how warm it’s getting, being so close to the sun and wondering, “When will our master be ready for us to let it rain?”

One was mentioning, “Even my suspended ice crystals are breathing heavy. Soon they will need to be cooled down and freshen up! If he doesn’t let us cool off here, I wish he would send us along our way where we can.”

The other cloud responded, “You got that right. I’m burning up to a boiling point!”

One of them mentioned, “We are floating into a sea of sweat. I’m turning to steam while we sit in this spot!”

As they searched below, one of them said, “Even those down there have more sense than us to stick around here.”

About this time, the small window opened and shot out an object, and the clouds saw and read it. Then the window closed!

Suddenly the roar of thunder started to roll across the sky, and the sparks of lightning were flashing across the plains, and now the clouds had permission to begin the rain!
