Every person at the age of sixteen to twenty has to make an extremely stressful decision, namely, to choose their own career and place of work. Ideal work makes use of our abilities, satisfies the requirements, fulfills a wish and settles into a regular rhythm of life.

There are many factors that make work more attractive. Which are the most popular among second-year students of PRUE?

The purpose of our poll was to find out which factors are the most preferable (the most important) for undergraduates. We also limited the research process by asking our respondents to select only three most valuable aspects at work out of twelve offered by the researchers.

As a result, our respondents had to opt for the following:

1) Promotion opportunities

2) Qualification trainings

3) High salary

4) Personal growth

5) Work-life balance

6) Inspirational boss

7) Good working atmosphere

8) Perks and benefits

9) Medical insurance

10) Pension scheme

11) Working for a successful company

12) Empowerment

To draw a conclusion, it should be noted that the most essential factors at work for contemporary students are high salary (40%), promotion opportunities and perks (33,3% each), and good working atmosphere (26,6%). Such an outcome indicates that young people are more interested in their self (self-improvement and welfare) than in their future (family matters, retirement, health, etc.).

We conducted our survey on 100 undergraduates of PRUE. They were interviewed about the major factors contributing to their job satisfaction. The following striking responses were received:

1) Generous salary. This factor has been chosen by 60% of our interviewees as a major source of job satisfaction. It means that over half of all the respondents believe that it’s the most essential factor for potential employees. Undoubtedly, many people want to get a sufficient sum of money for the duties they perform.

2) Opportunities for promotion. The number of interviewees who voted for this satisfaction component constitutes 52%. Presence of such a factor at work motivates and stimulates employees to do their best and work hard.

3) Perks and benefits. The factor was selected by 47% of the interviewees. The number of responses demonstrates that young people think that special benefits and additional privileges will help them to feel satisfaction with their work.

Other factors contributing to the sense of satisfaction with the work you perform but given no real importance are: work-life balance (18%), positive atmosphere (11%), and inspirational boss (9%). Such an attitude shows that students are not yet fully aware of what awaits for them at their work places as these aspects (which got less votes) concern real working atmosphere in an office, cooperation and collaboration.

To sum up, presence of all (or at least many) motivator as well as hygiene factors at work will definitely make employees of any organization feel satisfied with their duties and life.

Nowadays the problem of finding a dream job is widespread among university undergraduates. Students want to be a part of a perfect, successful company, which will meet their preferences. Quite often the prestige of a company is not the only thing that makes an organization so desirable for an employee.

In order to find out more information about the benefits, which attract young people in workplaces, we have conducted a sociological poll aimed at crucial factors in deciding what future job to choose.

To be frank, we were shocked by the results of our survey. We believed that the millennial generation would be prone to some aspects connected with beneficial social conditions. However, our expectations were not fulfilled.

The main priorities for modern students are sufficient remuneration (42%) and career advancement (31%). Definitely, promotion opportunities are very important for career and an employee’s reputation depends on their position / rank in the company. However, we suppose that these options are unattainable without having any social aspects at the beginning of a person’s work for the firm.

We were also startled by the low percentage of preference for such factors as good working conditions and perks (9% each), work-life balance (6%), and having job-related high-level training (4%).
