After my daughter’s birth I understood something about my own parents. Though I’d felt quite clearly that they loved me, I hadn’t grasped how much. I knew, too, that a parent’s love for a child is supposed to be one of the most powerful you can experience. But did I really, truly get it? No. Not the way I did when I had a baby of my own. Oh, I thought, this is what it’s like. And it blew me away.
