My dear neighbor
ОглавлениеOh no, I actually wanted to check on Galdur, who had a problem with some knot. Ts ... ts ... ts ... I so often forget the time while telling the story. So, now I'm really going to walk briskly to him.
No sooner said than done.
"Galdur, dear friend," I said, when I had walked around the tree and saw him sitting on the forest floor in front of his front door. "Can I be of any help to you?"
"Now look at this, Snørgl. I got a new hammock from Svipdapur today and didn't hang it up with him right away, silly me. I had to sweep up the fallen leaves in front of the tree first, so that I can fill my cushion again. And now it's all tangled up and the ends have turned into one big knot. Can you please help me untangle it? I'm pretty annoyed!" he said, holding the tangled hammock out to me with such a desperate expression on his face that I had to laugh out loud.
Galdur
"Sorry, your expression really should be painted! I can barely contain myself," I said laughing and grabbing the hammock at the same time.
It actually took us quite a while to untie the knots and attach the hammock.
"Do you think we can really all go on a dream trip together someday?" he asked me as we sat together outside his apartment on the tree stumps that Gosi had worked on. Now they almost looked like garden furniture.
"Well, I can't really imagine how that would work. But I'd really like to do it. That would certainly be a lot of fun. Fortunately, my last dream trip was some time ago, but I'm always happy when the lucky children smile again and forget their worries. But you'd better tell me why you had a fight with Vökull a few days ago."
Thoughtfully he looked at me.
"We didn't quarrel. I was just annoyed with him because he wouldn't stop pimping Styggur."
"Why? What was he doing?"
"Oh, you know, Styggur is in love with Sóla, after all, and every time he sees her he gets red in the face, starts stuttering, and finally runs away. It's not okay to tease him about it all the time and make him look ridiculous. It annoyed me and I guess that's why I got a little louder with him. I did apologize to him about it a short time later. But only because I was loud and not because of what I said to him."
He was really right about that. I had also noticed Styggur's behavior. But that you make fun of it is really not nice. I think it's very good that Galdur spoke to Vökull about it. But what I find just as great: he apologized to him because he had become so loud. I wonder if he suspected that it happened to me with Lýsa in the same way as it happened to Styggur with Sóla. Surely everyone suspected that I was also in love with an elf. With the most beautiful of all elves... with my Lýsa. But none of the elves had ever teased me about it.
We sat together for quite a while, talking about all sorts of things and drinking Pokki's herbal tea.
Then we were completely surprised when Djarfur appeared in front of the tree and stood up in front of us with his legs wide apart and his arms crossed:
"Helloooo! Do you need a special invitation or what? We've been sitting in the hollow around the campfire for quite a while now, just waiting for you two noses so we can finally start the meeting. This is sooooo typical again!" he grumbled, turning and stomping off still ranting:
"Those wretches. Always the last ones. Always needing a soooo special invitation."
One of his habits is to draw out the 'O' when he's excited. That's how we can always tell he's really annoyed, which is why we didn't think twice and ran after him.
At this point, we all had no idea what was in store for us. Maybe that was just as well, because I would have had a really loud heart palpitation from excitement.
And so we ran after Djarfur, because it would never have occurred to us not to follow this invitation immediately.
The dusk had already fallen and so we were allowed to experience an extraordinary moment, which pleases not only me again and again:
Because when we arrived on a slight hill we saw how the last fireflies were on their way to the meeting place. This incredibly beautiful and romantic sight fascinates me every time. Again today, so much so that I reached for Galdur's hand. With a 'Tell me, are you having a wichtelt?' he snatched his hand from me, but I could see in his face that he felt the same way as I did.
Countless shimmering dots floated over the ferns and grasses, and in the distance one could see the last rays of the setting sun breaking through the branches. And there, where the light of the sun no longer reached, the fireflies could be seen, on their way to gather. I felt a deep sense of happiness inside me and looked forward to spending the evening together with my friends.
"How nice that we are finally complete," we heard the deep voice of Vegard the head wight even before we had arrived at the campfire. You wouldn't think it possible that this powerful voice is really from him. Because: Vegard is a, uh, well, not very big wight. Well, more like a little runt. Oh, I think Vegard is one of the smallest wretches in our community. Especially for him, Gosi built a platform out of a very thick tree trunk, with a staircase to go with it, on which Vegard could always stand to speak to us. Because even when we were all sitting on the ground around him, he could hardly be seen.
You don't have to shake your head. Really, I'm not exaggerating!
And when we big wretches stand around him, you don't see him at all! (chuckle)
"Today it is my special pleasure, my dear Goblin, to speak to you. Lýsa has already let me know in the early morning hours that the day you have been looking forward to for so long has come. But she shall tell you all about it herself. Lýsa, my dear, please come to me on the pedestal!" he spoke and held out his hand to Lýsa.
Yes (sigh), Lýsa. The most beautiful of all elves. I, too, am usually speechless and behave quite strangely when she addresses me. Styggur feels the same way when he sees Sóla.
My Lýsa ... I am already very much in love with her. She is so gentle with the fireflies and the butterflies, she is so gentle with all animals, no matter if they are big or small. Everyone is drawn to her. She is so kind and always has a kind word - for each of us. Her delicate wings shimmer like gold, her soft curly hair seems to flow over her shoulders. And she has incredibly beautiful green - almost turquoise eyes that always seem to be smiling. If I had to describe her nature, I would say that she is always in a good mood and always friendly to everyone. When she walks she seems to dance, when she talks she seems to sing. And when she flies, it is more like floating and if you look after her, you think you can perceive a delicate cloud of gold dust around her.
