This Undone was fun to write, especially since I wrote it during the fall and apples are such a big deal in the Pacific Northwest where I live. Herefordshire, where this story takes place, is the Orchard of England, even today. Cider enjoyed a popular existence in Herefordshire since the Middle Ages but it wasn’t until the 19^th century that farmers banded together to make it possible to transport cider to the cities and make it a more lucrative industry outside of the region. Today, 63 million gallons of cider are produced in Herefordshire, accounting for over half of the cider produced in England.
