Introduction

A fictional, yet painfully real, literary message that addresses several societal menaces by highlighting the dynamics, the idiosyncrasies, and the inconsistencies of different cultures and disciplines and how they influence, shape, and govern our relationships, our affiliations, and our liaisons.

Could the dominant and majority male and his people be replaced? Could they be losing their grip? Could the self-appointed chosen ones be experiencing feelings of inadequacy and defeat at the hands of those who were so masterfully trained, conditioned, and enslaved by them?

Could we actually be approaching an era in which the lackey triumphs the master? Is the paradigm shifting, or has it already shifted?

We’ve spent years cultivating a society that represents and practices inequality. We’ve spent years ignoring gross injustices. We’ve spent years pretending to discuss our state of crisis and racial divide. We’ve spent years researching issues and developing studies based on reported findings. We’ve spent years examining these findings and supposedly strategizing solutions. We will now spend years reaping what we’ve sown.

Humphrey Delano William Nothingham II is a financial genius and an unstable wreck, having been psychologically castrated and placed in an emotional straitjacket at the hands of his family and his people. As his life unfolds, he makes decisions and takes actions that expose his insecurities and further confirm our state of societal confusion and disingenuousness.

Nothingham climbs to the top, a short sprint from where he begins; and through a series of mishaps, he falters badly. He adheres to someone else’s beliefs and practices and attempts to adopt and execute their plan. The plan backfires, he falls, and all the chief’s men could not put Nothingham together again. But all is not lost. It uncovers the truth and unites a family.
