ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
ОглавлениеI would first like to thank all the Tennis Pros who run the Tennis Clubs and Tennis Centers all over the world. I have not been to all of them, yet, but I have played in levels tournaments in almost every city in the great state of Texas in almost every type of Tennis Club imaginable, from the ritzy elegant Country Clubs to the crumbling public Tennis Centers.
I can honestly say that I have never met a Club Pro who did not have a special love and passion for the game of tennis. Club Pros treat all players with respect and dignity, regardless of their playing level and graciously handle trivial disputes with the precision of the Steffi Graf backhand. They answer the same old questions over and over, as if it was the first time.
Without Club Pros, there would be no levels tournaments or leagues which enable us all to enjoy the great game of tennis. I also want to thank all of my past opponents without whom I could not have experienced the memories and learning experiences that enabled me to write this book.
I would also like to thank my sons, Carlos Jr. and Jason, for enabling me to experience the countless thrills and chills of watching them develop into tennis players as they competed in Junior Tennis tournaments all over Texas.
There is no way to describe how a father feels watching his sons fight, scratch and claw their way to a much deserved victory. We also shared the pain when they had to endure the agony of defeat.
I also want to thank my daughters Margaret as I enjoyed watching her play tennis in high school and Jennifer for helping me clarify my thoughts.
I want to thank my son-in-law, Brian Hansen, and my cousin, Victor “The Hammer” Quintanilla, both up and coming 3.0 players, for editing my book and confirming that my theories were viable and helpful. They have both confirmed that my book made them better tennis players.
I must also thank Dan Katerly and Ronnie Rodriguez, both fellow Hackers, Pushers & Dinkers From Hell, who helped me edit my book and whose playing style typifies the Hacker, Pusher & Dinker From Hell attitude. Trust me, you would not want to play either of them on a hot, scorching day in Texas unless you enjoy pain and suffering. I also want to thank my brother Luis, a typical 3.5 “Social Player”, who had to read my book to understand why, after 20 years of playing tennis, he has no tennis trophies.
Last, but not least, I must thank my friend Dan Kupchyk, whose love for tennis is second to none. He is the guy in your city who year in and year out organizes and captains the best league team.
If you have dreams of going to sectionals, you will have to get past one of Dan’s teams to get there. I’m sure there is a Dan in every city in America. You probably know one and wouldn’t be playing tennis if he hadn’t been there to push and encourage you to “GET IN THE GAME.”
I never say no to a tennis match, so if you are ever in San Antonio please call me at (210) 978-3984 or email me at QLTPNOW@GMAIL.COM to set up a match. Please remember that all Whoopins are by appointment only, lol.
