Who we are?

Our team is comprised of orthopedic surgeons with expertise in the knee surgery field. We work daily in academic settings, therefore we are constantly challenged by our students, orthopedic residents and fellows, healthy forcing us to be always up to date.

Dr. Carlos Vaz, MD, phD

Team Leader

Dr. Vaz was born in Londrina, State of Parana, in southern Brazil in 1968. He graduated from State University of Londrina School of Medicine in 1992, and served his residency from 1992 to 1995 and his fellowship in Knee Surgery from 1995 to 1996, both in the Orthopaedic Department at Santa Casa de São Paulo – Pavilhão Fernandinho Simonsen (São Paulo). He is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery Department at State University of Londrina and Head of the Knee Surgery Group. Dr. Vaz obtained his phD from the University of São Paulo in 2006. Dr. Vaz is an experienced clinician and researcher in the field of knee arthroscopic surgery. His clinical practice focuses on the treatment of sports-related injuries to the knee. Dr. Vaz performs over 350 arthroscopic surgeries, with about 100 ACL reconstructions, per year. He is a member of International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine, Sociedad Latinoamericana de Artroscopia, Rodilla y Traumatologia Deportiva, Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia do Joelho, Sociedade Brasileira de Ortopedia e Traumatologia and of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a volunteer reviewer of The Journal of Arthroscopy.
