Where a Collect ends ‘through Jesus Christ.. . now and for ever’, the minister may omit the longer (trinitarian) ending and use the shorter ending, ‘through Jesus Christ our Lord’, to which the people respond, ‘Amen’. The longer ending, however, is to be preferred at a service of Holy Communion.

The Collect for each Sunday is used at Evening Prayer on the Saturday preceding, except where that Saturday is a Principal Feast, or a Festival, or the eve of Christmas Day or Easter Day. The Collect for each Sunday is also used on the weekdays following, except where other provision is made.
