Dear Reader,

As I write this letter it’s springtime here in Northern California. The graduation season is upon us. I’ve been a teacher for most of my adult life, and graduation is such a significant time as our youngsters step out into their next phase. It’s a frightening prospect in some ways. There are so many temptations and dangers swirling around this world and consequences for mistakes can be high. Helen experiences just such a thing as she endures the devastation of a youthful dare gone wrong. My own girls have fledged into college students, and I fight the urge to try to keep them tethered close in our safe little family home. What comforts me is the knowledge that the Lord loves them ever so much more than I ever could. What’s more, though we are subject to all manner of disasters here on Earth, He has prepared a place for us where troubles will pass away, a perfect world, a “peaceful home.” What a comfort, don’t you think?
