Let me make this abundantly clear: this book is not for people with five dogs and years of ownership skills under their belt. This is a book for those of you who have no idea what it takes to raise a dog.

Let me also make it clear that it’s ok for you not to know. The important thing is that you’re here, reading this book. This tells me that you are a responsible person who is actually concerned about the welfare of your new animal.

This is just the beginners manual for puppies. It is by no means a catch-all nor an exhaustive list of all training techniques. I just want to get you started.

In this book, we’ll cover housebreaking, kennel training, and some simple obedience training. I’ll also give you some insight as to how your puppy functions. It’s not a comprehensive guide but this should be enough to get you going through your first few months of ownership.
