Thalamus and Hypothalamus
ОглавлениеSensory information (with the exception of smell) is transmitted to the thalamus, which processes it and then sends to other parts of the brain, including the amygdala. The hypothalamus—through its effects on the release of hormones by the pituitary gland—seems to have a role in virtually all aspects of behavior, such as sexuality, sleeping, and feeding, and is also involved in the regulation of bodily temperature. These structures are associated with the experience and expression of emotion and with the fight-or-flight response.
