Doctor Turlo in the Making

Оглавление

This story starts in what could be one of a million small towns in America. Our hero’s name is Olivia Turlo, a medical practitioner from her home town.

Olivia was somewhat the tomboy, where she enjoyed running outside with her friends and would regularly beat the boys at baseball, running or any other sport she put her mind to. Playing with frogs, birds, dogs, cats and any other creature made her immensely happy. When there was an injured animal, Olivia would see if she could help heal it and find a good home for it.

Olivia’s uncle, who was in alternative medicine, would regularly listen to Olivia’s description of people’s health issues. After her uncle listened to the problem, he mentioned what the problem might be, and mentioned alternative cures and possible solutions. Olivia became very proactive and had a keen sense on the cause of people’s health issues and would regularly prescribe the best line of attack. On more than one occasion, this brought a smile on the face of the old doctor.

Olivia was a very friendly, kind, and helpful person, but only had a few friends due to her working really hard at her studies, performing well at school, being extremely competitive and successful at sports and the all around general drive that she had. There was nothing wrong with this, but some people felt threatened by this powerfully different person.

Olivia’s father loved seeing his daughter follow what she loved and would go out of the way to buy books, videos, scientific equipment or anything else that would help her out. Olivia loved her father for what he did.

On Olivia’s seventeenth birthday, she decided to find out for herself if she’d be good in medicine, and after a signed-note from her parents, she joined the Peace Corps for two years to assist doctors and nurses serving the sick and suffering in third world countries.

During this period, Olivia regularly wrote friends and family discussing how patients were brought in and how the doctors would diagnose a problem or problems, and that many patients recovered in little or no time. With great enthusiasm, she described that in her mind, she acquired the ability to watch people enter the clinic, describe their infirmity and be able to prescribe the solution that doctor would regularly give.

She further elaborated that it had been as though a special door had been opened deep within her and that she was supposed to enter it. Furthermore, Olivia said, “This is my passion, and I receive great happiness from the service I provide. I want to cure diseases and make the world a better place.” Olivia now envisioned her dream of becoming a doctor.

Upon arriving home from overseas, Olivia regularly applied herself to improving her GPA(Grade Point Average) in high-school in order to be eligible to enter a prestigious medical university.

Every chance Olivia had, she would study the internet in the evening to find out about new medical procedures and how they would heal the sick and suffering. She would then envision going to medical school, and creating cures for diseases that were out there.

All of a sudden, it seemed as though where ever Olivia turned and looked, there was information that would assist her in her quest. She would see articles on TV that would further teach her about medicine, or on the internet she would type in various phrases in search engines and the desired results would show up. It was as though she were becoming a magnet to what she desired.

Upon entering the final year of high-school Olivia envisioned that she would perform well in her courses along with her SAT’s. Along with that she did everything that she felt was necessary in order to succeed.

In Olivia’s last semester at high school, she applied for a number of prestigious medical universities and felt confident about acceptance. She wrote her SAT’s and received one of the highest marks. Her heart then was set on attending the most recognized medical universities in the country, where the opportunity to study and cure deadly diseases were abundant.

Early June, Olivia started receiving acceptance letters from the various universities that she applied to. She opened each of the letters, where some accepted her request to enter, and others tactfully refused her application.

The one and only letter that she was looked for but was not in the pile was missing. She started questioning herself: “Was my application lost?”, “Was my application rejected and they don’t even want to respond? “What’s wrong?” Regardless, strong minded Olivia envisioned her dream of attending her dream university. Still, she shed a tear, wiped it away, and quietly walked home from the mail.

The very next day, Olivia went to the mail and opened the mail box and her letter was there. Now, the moment she dreaded, “Do I open this letter only to have my dreams shattered, or leave it closed?” Not being able to bear the suspense any longer, Olivia opened the letter. The response then stated:

“Dear Ms. Turlo,

The admissions office of our university has had the difficult duty of having to shift through the numerous admissions into our prestigious university; otherwise, we would have contacted you earlier.

Going through several hundred extremely promising prospects you were put on a short-list of the final twenty applicants, where only five were to be selected for our fall semester. We have the distinct privilege inform you that you have been accepted into our university for this falls beginning semester.

If you are still interested………………….”

The suspense and tension for Olivia was simply too much, and she crumpled the letter and broke down crying. After a few minutes, she gathered herself together and let her friends and family know that she was accepted into the university of her choice.

Olivia was now finally leaving her friends, family and her home town in pursuit of the education she dreamed of to become a doctor. Olivia and her friends went out to dinner where she had her favorite meal of pasta. There were some tearful farewells but the one person that she’ll miss the most was her father.

Olivia had fond memories that, when small, her dad would take her to the amusement park, put her on his shoulders to make her seem so tall, took her on the merry-go-round, bought her candy apples, took her for nature walks, taught her how to ride a bicycle, and cleaned and kissed her knee when she scraped it. Her favorite memory was to roast marsh mellows with her father while they went camping together during summer.

Unfortunately, Olivia really didn’t know her mother since she divorced her father Frank when she was 5 years old.

To look at Olivia’s father Frank, at the age of 50 years, you’d not expect anything other than him being an average working father. Little would you know.

When Frank was young he was the designer of low price car that cost almost nothing to fuel, and had no emissions. He would have changed the world except that sinister forces in the oil industry, and the federal government destroyed his plans. Without tax revenues from fuel sold the government couldn’t afford its bogus bureaucracy, and if there were no pollution from vehicles then the bureaucracy of the EPA wouldn’t be needed. The oil companies wanted to keep their virtual income monopoly on the transportation market. Both parties wanted their unearned money and power.

As Frank found out the hard-way, under the premise of a Green company, the EPA and the oil companies had Frank sign a contract with them for exclusive rights to promote his product. With the contract in hand, they pulled out all funding to his project and gave a dire warning for him to keep quiet about his technological advancements. He was warned that if any of his research were to ever come out that his entire family would simply disappear. Frank would have to keep quiet to protect his family!

When Frank lost his opportunity to create such great values for the world, he quietly died inside and announced to his family that funding had been cut on his project, and his business was closing. This affected his relationship with his wife and eventually led to their divorce.

After Frank’s divorce, he never talked about his creation again and got into the construction industry. Olivia never knew the reason why her daddy lost his business, got divorced, and seemed to have a sad expression on his face and eyes. The only thing that made Frank smile was to see Olivia safe and happy.

Olivia’s first day at university was wonderful, and knew it would take some time to orient herself. She knew that it was frosh week and she would be expected to engage in the silly rituals but wanted to keep it to a minimum.

In Olivia’s dorm, she had a nice next door neighbor named Wendy that enjoyed parties, dancing, drinking, meeting guys with no particular interests other than that. Many of the other people in the dorm were similar to Wendy.

Numerous evenings, Wendy would knock on Olivia’s door asking her if she wanted to go to a party, drink and meet guys. Olivia was kind in her response, but said no due to her having to complete an important assignment for class. Obviously, Olivia also didn’t want to waste time on areas that were of no value to her.

During many evenings Olivia would simply go to the on-campus library or study in her room. She loved to delve into her medical books and understand the break-down of the human body, or how certain diseases occur and mutate from nature.

Most of the women on campus were relatively good looking, but Olivia was exceptionally beautiful and intelligent. She was 5’ 10”, slim, long slender legs, with beautiful moccha skin, long black hair, with gorgeous green eyes. Most of the women were either extremely jealous or felt threatened by her, while the men saw and wanted this very beautiful woman.

As the semesters blended together, Olivia’s knowledge, ability and passion in medicine started to grow. In one of Olivia’s favorite lectures, Professor McNewman took a liking to Olivia as he listened intently to her intelligent questions and the exceptional quality of lab assignments.

After one class, he met Olivia in the hall and said, “Hello. I’m the professor for your third period on human physiology.” Olivia responded, “I know who you are, and I enjoy your lectures immensely.” “Oh, thank-you” responded professor McNewman, “I just wanted to let you know, by the quality of your questions and work that you’ll go far in medicine. Please keep up with your passion and hard-work. I know you’ll help make the world a better place.”

Olivia finally met up with someone from the university that she admires, and respects from the values they produce. She reflected and thought, “those people are few and far between.”

Olivia wanted to get to know someone who thought and lived just like her.

Mr. McNewman wasn’t always a polished professor, but came from the south side of Chicago. John as his friends would call him, came from a broken family where his father abandoned his mother and him at 3 years old.

In a constant fight for survival, his mother Louise would take jobs in cleaning different businesses and in styling ladies hair on the side. Every Thursday evening, his mom would go to night school to follow on one of her passion of becoming a beautician. She excelled at what she loved doing.

Louise would not be at home most of the time as her day would start early in the morning and end late in the evening. Nevertheless, John always had breakfast and dinner in the fridge waiting him every day. Also, mom made sure to put a note in his lunch to let him know how much she loved and was proud of him.

Louise loved John very much and would do anything to spur his interest in whatever his interests were.

John loved his schooling and worked very hard at every subject he was involved in, and was considered a real achiever. When he did well in a subject, his mother would take him out to McDonald’s for dinner.

After many months of night school, Louise was cleaning one of her many businesses as part of her daily routine. When cleaning near one of the windows, she looked out and noticed that there was an abandoned business that had gone bankrupt. Also after reflecting on it, she noticed that the business was in a central area of the city where there were many highly-paid women managers that could easily walk there during lunch. There also was ample available free parking outside, and the business was close to major bus routes.

With further examination, she realized that the probable reason that the building hadn’t been sold or leased is due to it being too small for most businesses or restaurants, but would be the perfect size for a beauty salon. At that point, she wrote down the number for the leasing company that was boarded on the side of the building.

That evening, when she arrived home she started collecting the necessary paperwork and information in order to create a loan application. The next day, she called the leasing company and found out all the information for renting the building, and went to the bank and attained all the forms needed for a loan application.

On top of all her normal work, she rifled through all the little details necessary to create a loan application for a viable business. After looking at all the details, she realized that she might have to work cleaning part-time till her business took off, but she was determined.

A few weeks later, with all the hard-work and planning done, Louise went to the bank with all the paperwork and reports filled-out. After a half hour meeting with the bank manager she was approved for the loan.

That evening, John’s mom was home when he arrived home from school and gave him the good news. She had a glow on her face, and said, “Son, if you have something that is a passion to you then follow it with all your heart.”

John’s beautiful mother showed him how to be the person of his dreams, and that lead to the man he is today.

Olivia’s long days and evenings studying and working hard were finally taking a toll on her health and it started to show.

After one of her labs in Mr. McNabb’s class he spoke to her and let her know that he thought of her as a excellent student, but noticed that the quality of her work had slightly declined. John said, “Olivia, I’m offering a small group of students an opportunity to receive tutoring in areas that are of trouble to them in my course. If you are interested, please see me and the others after class at 3pm, Wednesday.” Olivia nodded.

The days went by and Olivia looked forward to a Wednesday, and she could ask questions to her favorite teacher.

Finally, Wednesday arrived and Olivia went to her 3 PM tutoring session. During the question and answer session, Olivia could see the life and vibrancy in Mr. McNabb’s face. Olivia knew this was a man on a mission to teach young adults about the operation of the human mind. She knew that he was on the up and up.

After the session was over, Mr. McNabb went over to Olivia and asked her if the tutoring session was of assistance. Olivia responded, “yes, it was of extreme value to me in that I understand the details of what you brought up during the lectures.” Professor McNabb stood back, thought, and said, “Thank you. I’m privileged that I could be of assistance.” At that point, Mr. McNabb’s face went blank and there was a pause. The next thing that he said was, “Olivia, would you like to go out for a coffee.” With no hesitation, Olivia replied, “Yes.” Professor McNabb then asked, “Would you please call me John as that’s the name I want my friends to call me.” Olivia shook her head affirmatively.

At the coffee shop, John and Olivia sat down at a window seat and John proceeded to say, “Olivia I don’t regularly socialize with my students, especially a student that is as young and beautiful as you.” Olivia immediately blushed and smiled. John then continued to say, “But I’m going to make a exception for you. Olivia, your entire life is ahead of you. You are following your passion, which is the one thing that you love. Many people go throughout their entire lives without finding that.”

John then added, “Many people get into a career because there’s a lot of money in it, or because their mother, father, friends, family, guidance counselors, tradition, a minister, the State, the government, a television ad or something or someone else told them to do it. You are the one person that can say, with a completely guilt free conscience, I’m following my passion and I am my own leader.”

John took a brief pause and then proceeded to say, “Many of those parties may mean well but they have no way of telling what your passion is, also some of them have agenda’s that are not in your best interest, and as a matter of fact some of them would like nothing more than to sacrifice you to their personal higher-causes.

The most important fact is that you are the only person that can find your passion and thus rightfully earn happiness in life. I find that, after interacting with many of my students, that they are in their field for the wrong reason. Olivia, you are the person on the hill because of what you have done and I’m so very proud of you.”

When John was finished speaking, Olivia sat back in her chair, contemplated, trying to formulate an answer. Olivia then took a breath and said, “I’ve never heard anyone speak to me the way you do.” John then replied, “I thought this was of immense value to you in that you would use what I’ve said.” Further adding, “I hope that I wasn’t too forward or preachy in what I’ve said to you?” Olivia smiled and said, “Not at all and I sincerely thank-you for your guidance and kindness.” There was a moment of gentle quietness and respect as they both knew that they were now good friends.

Olivia didn’t say anything, but she now had a secret crush on this wise and kind man.

“Olivia”, John said, “It’s now getting late and I better safely escort you back to the front of your dorm.” She quietly nodded and they conversed all the way back to her residence.

***

Olivia started her classes with a renewed zeal. She focused and integrated the information during the lectures, labs and studies. During the question portion of the class she would ask the professors questions that would clearly stimulate and challenge them. At times, the faculty would be intimidated by her integrated questions, but then they would realize they had a person who had found their inward passion.

Occasionally, Olivia and John would get together for coffee. Olivia yearned to spend time with her special new friend. For hours they would discuss some of the newest medical procedures that would make the world a better place. Unfortunately, during their discussions, John had to bring up that some doctors were no more than glorified pharmacists.

John added, “Instead of doctors healing the cause of the problem, they are only dealing with the symptoms. On top of that, many thousands of innocent people, if not more, die every year from taking the prescribed amount of medicine. I just don’t know how the big pharmaceutical companies, doctors and the government can get away with it. If an individual were to take a piece of wood and hit someone, thus causing their death, then they would rightfully charged with murder. In contrast, if a pharmaceutical company were to create a dangerous product, have a doctor prescribed it, and were to lead to so many premature deaths, then they are free and clear.”

Olivia calmly reflected, thought about it and then said, “You are right, it’s as though the whole world were upside down and evil was called good and good was called evil.” John then interjected and said, “There is also a whole alternative field of medicine that has been rejected by the medical community. It’s called holistic, homeopathy along with self-tapping medicine. Many of those ‘alternative’ medicines have been rejected not due to their healing properties, but because they usually do heal. You see, many pharmaceutical companies, the FDA and many doctors want to hold down advancing technologies so they can hold onto unearned money, power and a false sense of importance.

If there were super-advancing medical breakthroughs, then there would be little or no need for the FDA, the big pharmaceutical companies or doctors. The proof in what I’m saying is incontrovertible. If there were voluntary trial groups for all of these holistic and alternative medicines, they would stand or fall on the basis of the Scientific method. Their dishonesty and shame are rightfully exposed when these groups threaten to or use force or use force, through agenda laws, to stop the Scientific method.”

John kept talking, “There are some other tactics these sinister forces use to destroy the innocent from making the world a better place. One of them is to create bogus lawsuits against individuals and groups through agenda law, and then to use Ego justice to destroy them in court. Sometimes, brutal thugs use the heavy handed tactic of ‘visiting’ people in the middle of the night. Another sinister tactic is to use out of context ‘facts’ to attack someone in the form of a vendetta. These tactics can sometimes be done anonymously and are always despicable, cruel and hypocritical. They are regularly used, one way or another, by dishonest members of the press, lawyers, judges, government bureaucrats and lawyers. Usually, the only way to stop these attacks is to give in to the demands of the belligerent, or to commit suicide. Governments that perpetuate or allow these types of atrocities completely ignore the Constitution and the laws of the country; thus are rightfully no better than the NAZI’s. Honest value creators can do without parasites”, exclaimed John, “but parasites can’t exist without honest value creators.”

John continuing and said, “Parasites can’t totally stop all medical and technological advances, because if they did then they wouldn’t have anyone to pay for their unearned living.”

After a pause he added, “You had might as well get used to me saying this.”

John then added, “In University I took a double major and my second major was, believe it or not in history. May God show mercy for the many millions of innocent people killed, and the numberless lives cut short and destroyed by the parasitic elite.”

Olivia then thought and said, “How do you come to all of these observations.”

John then said, “Olivia I simply look at all of the pieces of information that are involved in a subject and deal with it honesty and with integrity, and then make a hypothesis in reality.” John further elaborated, “The proof that my hypothesis is correct, Is it true in reality?”

Olivia was amazed and stated, “You are so correct. Thank you for helping to removing the blinds from my eyes.”

John replied, “It’s my pleasure to help someone who is so much like a kindred spirit.”

John and Olivia really enjoyed their talks as they got to know one another.

***

Mr. Blackburn asked Olivia to meet him in private right after class.

John was coincidentally walking by the room, and walked in due to the excessive noise.

He then knew something was really wrong through the way things looked. Then he looked in Olivia’s direction and said, “I couldn’t help but come in and was wondering what was going on. Is there anything I can do to help?”

Mr Blackburn then said, “No John there’s nothing wrong,” but the expression on Olivia’s face said something different.

John then thought to himself, should I call the President of the University and/or the police?

John then took control of the situation and said, “Mr. Blackburn, I’d like for you to wait for me outside the door. I need to speak to Olivia in private, and then I’ll call you in.”

John then looked Mr. Blackburn in the eye and said, “I don’t want to have to go searching for you. Do you understand me?”

Mr. Blackburn then meekly shook his head up and down and left the room.

Olivia then ran over to John and hugged him and he could tell that she was scared.

John went ahead into the room and went to Olivia. He saw that she had just wiped away her tears, and he quietly spoke to her for a couple of minutes and she let him know what happened and her wishes in this matter. All of a sudden, Olivia gave John a big hug around the neck and he said, “Olivia, he will not bother you again.”

Walking with Olivia to the door, John said, “I’m now going to walk out of the room ahead of you and I’ll be facing Mr. Blackburn, and then you’ll walk in the opposite direction of where I’m facing. I want you to directly go to the cafeteria, and I’ll meet you immediately afterward.

Olivia then said, “Are you sure you know what you are doing?”

John simply smiled and said, “Olivia, I know how to deal with bullies.”

John then immediately walked out of the door, faced Mr. Blackburn and then Olivia left in the opposite direction of Mr. Blackburn to the cafeteria.

Olivia knew her gentle warrior was going to war for her.

After making sure that Olivia was safely gone, he asked Mr. Blackburn back into the classroom so they could talk about this matter.

Mr Blackburn then meekly walked into the classroom and said, “John, I can stay a minute but I have to back to my office to mark lab assignments.”

John then closed the door behind him and locked it.

John then simply said, “Don’t worry Mr. Blackburn, this will only take a minute.”

“Olivia just explained what had just happened. Lucky for her that I was going by the classroom and heard what was going on.”

“Listen-up Blackburn: When it comes to Miss Turlo, you had might as well think of me as the right hand of God.”

With wide eyes and looking down, his nostrils flared open. “If you ever speak to Miss Turlo outside a full-classroom setting, or bother her again then I’ll come after you.”

Mr. Blackburn knew that John was about to explode. He was very afraid, but tried to justify his actions, “Now John, I am a single man and she’s a single woman. She was flirting with me after class saying that she needed private…”

It was simply too much for John and he went over and punched Mr. Blackburn full-out below the belt. Mr. Blackburn hunched over groaning in pain, and grasping for breath.

“Mr. Blackburn, I don’t think that you are listening to me but I believe that I’ve just got your attention.”

“Olivia is at the beginning of her life, she’s pure, innocent and is following her passion. I may even be in love…” but he stopped himself. “If you ever look at her cross-ways, or follow her, or talk to her outside of a full classroom setting, or fail that great achiever, I’ll make you very sorry…..”

John continued, “If you threaten her, I’ll put you in the hospital. If you hurt her then you’ll be going to the morgue. I might not look like a toughened street kid from Chicago, but I know how to make people sorry they ever lived. Do you understand what I’m saying to you?” Mr. Blackburn was too scared to look John in the eye and simply whispered “Yes.” John pushed Mr Blackburn away, leaving him cowering and hurt.

Mr Blackburn was only left hurt, humiliated but very clearly warned. He never knew how close he was to serious bodily harm or death.

Immediately, John went to Olivia’s dorm and politely knocked on her door. Olivia had just arrived back from class and opened the door. “Olivia, may I please come in?”

Olivia replied, “Yes, of course John.”

John then asked, “How are you feeling today?”

Olivia then said, “I’m still a little shaken but otherwise I’ll be fine.”

John then smiled and said, “I’ve just had a discussion with Mr. Blackburn and he won’t ever bother with you again.”

Olivia was immediately overcome with relief and emotion for the man that protected her, she immediately ran over and passionately kissed him on the lips. She said, “Thank you for protecting me from that…man. I can’t hold back the way that I feel about you and want to say that I love you and I want you to be beside me forever.”

John was speechless and with a red flushed face he smiled and said, “I love you too.”

They passionately kissed and embraced each other for a long-time, never wanting the moment to go away. After a long-time, John finally spoke-up and said, “We must be very careful as to how we present ourselves at this point. You are a new student in university, 20 years old, and must complete all your courses to become a doctor. I’m your professor that is 10 years your senior.

As we both know, professors are made to sign a code of conduct upon employment, strictly forbidding them from dating students that are currently in one of their courses. If I’m found in breach of my contract, my job would be immediately terminated.

Not only do you need to complete your studies, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’m in the process of creating a advanced Human Physiology book that is a culmination of all that I’ve integrated over the years. It’s my life’s work to date.”

“We must be patient.” Then John gracefully took Olivia’s hand and pulled her to him where there passionately kissed once again.

John slowly walked towards the door and then he finally said, “You are in my thoughts and in my heart.” Then John was gone. Olivia looked out her dorm window and saw John walking down the walkway. About a hundred feet away, he turned around, smiled and waving he took a very long look at her.

Olivia’s heart was intoxicated with this new emotion called Love. She immediately fell in love with this man that followed his inward passion and calling.

All of a sudden, those muscle bound jocks that had all those good looks suddenly seemed so small and insignificant. All they wanted that do was party and date. Sadly, she even pitied them.
