Chapter 7
ОглавлениеAnother soldier fell to the ground in a heap, drenching everything below him with blood dripping from under his helmet.
Those who held back the neighbor who came to my aid, recoiled from him to the side and stared at the demon towering over the body, on whose face a crazy grin appeared, and in his eyes a crazy gleam, from which chills went down the back, and I’m sure not only me.
In his palm, he was clutching a black plate that had previously been in the hands of the murdered. He ran it over Mary’s stone, and the hoop around his neck, with a loud crack, fell to the floor.
An interesting thing.
– Well, creatures, who’s next? – he shouted, and with a loud roar he rushed into the thick of the enemies.
A heroic but suicidal decision, no doubt, but that’s not what caught my attention.
The kneeling fanged neighbor, having got rid of the soldiers holding him back, who had tortured him a minute ago, jumped to his feet and, echoing the furious roar of the horned one, rushed to his aid.
This is where it all came to a head.
Their anger and fury seemed to spur the prisoners huddled against the walls. More and more people, grabbing the tools that came to hand, screamed piercingly and rushed to the attack.
The quarry now resembled a battlefield, littered with fallen bodies, with blood spray flying in different directions, screams and groans.
Closing my eyes, I pressed myself against the wall, praying only one thing: to merge with it and no longer see what was happening here now.
Animal panic, uncontrollable, covered me from the head. Threw alternately in the heat, then in the cold. The whole body trembled finely, and dizziness and rolling nausea simply drove me crazy.
– Snezha, fuck you, come to your senses, – shouted Milana, who was sitting next to me, who had been harassing me for some time, trying to get through, «we need to get out of here while reinforcements are on the way. We’re being crushed now!
Shaking myself, I grabbed her hand, knelt down and began to look around, looking for a way out.
– And where should we run? – In which direction? I do not see anything.
– First of all, calm down! Crawl after me on all fours, and in no case get up – I was always lost in extreme situations, succumbing to fear and relying on those who were nearby, but Milana, as it turned out, was a fighting girl.
Deftly maneuvering between the legs of the fighting and the bodies lying on the ground, she led me along, as Spartak led the slaves to the north. I didn’t even look around, afraid to lose sight of her. But when a horned neighbor almost stepped on me, I was forced to raise my head.
Noticing us, he smiled wryly, and again rushed to beat the soldiers who flew up to him with a sledgehammer, trying to take them away from us, but he got so carried away that he did not notice how the key hanging on the golden ring fell out of his pocket.
After making sure that no one was watching, I quickly grabbed it and began to turn it in my hands. The letters «QSRP» were engraved on the very top, and I wondered what that could mean.
Why did the horned man need a key? It didn’t look like the one that covered the cameras, which means it was from something else.
Realizing that I was delayed, and it was impossible to delay any longer, I crawled further.
Only when we reached the exit from the cave, after which a long dark corridor stretched, and where no one was observed so far, we stopped and began to catch our breath. It was at this moment that the siren screeched, marking the approaching end of the uprising, where the prisoners were by no means the winning side.
– We have two exits, we crawl into the cell and sit there as if nothing had happened, – Milana wheezed, coughing and still panting, «or we poke like blind kittens in search of a portal. I warn you right away, the second option can lead us to death.
– Then we have only one way, back to the cell, – I quickly replied, not wanting to go to feed the worms today.
Rising to our feet, we exchanged sad smiles and ran straight down the corridor, choosing the path that took us from the dining room to the quarries.
Suddenly, there was a clatter of feet, and my friend and I darted into a dark niche, afraid of being caught in the process of escaping. You can’t prove to these bastards later that we didn’t run to freedom, but back to our glass houses.
As I waited for them to pass by, I raised my head and fixed my eyes on the door opposite, with a sign hanging on it, the inscription on which seemed familiar.
Well, of course! Exactly the same was on the key that was now in my pocket – «QSRP».
– Milana!
– Shhh! – she put her finger to her lips and hissed at me, – what are you doing? They will hear us.
I waved the key in front of her nose and pointed to the door. At first, my friend gave me a puzzled look, and then she saw the inscription on the key, compared it with the sign on the door, and bulged her eyes at me.
– Where did you get that? whispered with her lips.
– I’ll tell you later, let’s try to open it, – waiting for the soldiers to rush past us, we rushed to the door.
The castle succumbed almost immediately, we didn’t even have to make an effort. The door creaked open, but the darkness inside made it impossible to see anything clearly.
Without thinking for a long time, I ran up to the torch hanging on the wall, took it off and rushed back. My heart was pounding like crazy until the moment we closed the door behind us and began to look around the room before us.
Snow, look! Those are my clothes! – indeed, there was a huge wooden cabinet with shelves against the wall, on one of which lay my backpack and shoes, and next to it were the clothes that Milana and I were wearing before we ended up in prison.
Most likely, we were the last prisoners who arrived in Kandugan, and they did not have time to distribute our things to where the things of the others were stored, leaving them here for the time being. Unprecedented luck, but why do we need it?
While I was rummaging around in my backpack looking for things that might come in handy in the cell, Milana stepped back into the room. There was a creak of a door opening and blue light lit up the room.
The backpack in my hands fell to the floor, and I myself gasped loudly, almost to the point of a heart attack, afraid that we had been discovered.
– Do not shout! I found another way out of here, – Milana whispered, in some unnaturally enthusiastic voice, – come here, urgently!
I immediately rushed to her, and when I caught up, I froze as if rooted to the spot, seeing what she was looking at so fascinated.
Portal!
In the very center of the empty room stood a very mirror-like structure that glowed bright blue. It was no different from what Milana and I had already seen in the cave of Aris. He was surrounded by the same haze and seemed to beckoning them to her.
– When we get out of here, remind me to make a sacrifice to the goddess Amira, – the «witch» whispered reverently.
Forgetting that I almost died of fear just a minute ago, I laughed out loud.
– Well, how long are we going to stare at him? – Urgently pick up things and get out of here feet!

Seeing how two girls from the cell opposite disappeared into one of the rooms located in the corridor, Warlocks rushed to follow, but was sharply grabbed by the neck and pressed against the wall.
– What hell are you thinking, horned one? – croaked Sky, whose voice, after the endured torture, became even rougher than before.
A hoop with a marina stone continued to flaunt around his neck, which he did not manage to remove in the heat of the struggle, and now it was too late. The man’s breathing was even, and his heart beat calmly. As if it was not him who sent a couple of enemies to the forefathers a few minutes ago.
– This is none of your business, Skylor. Get out of my way and get back to the cell! snapped the Warlocks, pretending not to notice the elbow pressed against his Adam’s apple.
– I can press harder and you’ll squeal like a girl, calling the hell elves. Then we cannot avoid the punishment cell, and this is at best. But I can not press, and you will tell me everything without witnesses, and after that, I may let you go.
The Warlocks paused for a moment and chuckled merrily.
– You know how to persuade, little animal. Okay, listen. You saw who disappeared in that room,» the demon nodded to his right.
– I saw it, – Sky grimaced, remembering the blonde’s frightened eyes when one of the soldiers almost took her life.
He himself did not remember how he got close and struck. I only knew that it was the only correct decision, and do not care about the consequences. The beast agreed with him completely.
– There is a portal.
Sky himself, without noticing it, strengthened his grip, and came to his senses only when the demon coughed and began to twist his head. Just as abruptly as it had grabbed him, the werewolf removed her elbow and took a step back.
