Mr. Noun Collector

Оглавление

They can see somebody on the road and decide to come closer.

– Hammy, look! I think we’re right at the border now. It looks like a block post.

– I think you’re right, Homiq. There is a hamster over there. Let’s approach him and ask how to cross the border…

– Excuse me, sir! My name is Homiq and this is my good friend Hammy. May I ask what you name is?

– My name is Mr. Hamsterran and I guard the border here.

– We need to get to VocabulArea. Can you help us?

– To get to our magnificent, fantastic and magic country you need to answer two questions! Then I will let you cross the border. Are you ready?

– Yes, we are!

(And are YOU ready, my friend, to help our two hamsters? Let’s help them as much as we can!)

– The first question is quite simple. What do you have in your rucksacks? Just name all the objects – I’m interested in names of things, since I collect them, I’m a Noun Collector.

(Dear friend, let’s think, what Hammy and Homiq could possibly have taken with them. And let’s name all these things to Mr. Noun Collector, maybe our list can help you):

– a toothbrush and a toothpaste

– a book and a pen

– a torch

– a sandwich and a thermos

– also a calculator, a notebook, a crayon, some paper and paperclips, a tube of glue and paints

– some fruit: a lemon, some grapes, a pineapple, some dates, an orange, some cherries, a pear, a peach, a melon.

What other useful things can you think of, my friend?

– Why do you need so much fruit?

– We like fruit salads, don’t we, Homiq?

– Yes, we do! Let’s sing our favourite song!

A Fruit Salad

We are making a fruit salad – a fruit salad for the friends!

Let’s take lemons, grapes and cherries, apples, pears and some dates!

Also melons and pineapples and a peach we’ll add to it –

Dicing, slicing, mixing, dressing everything – and now to eat!

We are making a fruit salad – a fruit salad making we!

Lovely, tasty and nutritious we want now it to be!

We are making a fruit salad – a fruit salad for the friends!

Let’s take lemons, grapes and cherries, apples, pears and some dates!

Playing Rhymes

While Hammy and Homiq are getting everything out of their backpacks and naming it, let’s play fruit rhymes! Look attentively at all the fruit names and choose rhymes for them from the magic box, which Mr. Noun Collector has kindly given us. He says:

I’ll give a magic box to you,

It’s full of helping words.

Now take it, friends, and choose a few

And rhymes will fly like birds!

And so, we’ve got some fruit: a peach, grapes, dates, a pear and cherry. Find the rhymes for them in the magic box!

Well done! Now let’s return to our friends!

– I can see that you’ve coped with this task quite easily. The second question from me won’t be as simple as the first one. Are you ready? – says Mr. Noun Collector.

– Yes, we are! Aren’t we, Hammy?

– Then listen. You have just told me what you’ve got in your rucksacks. Tell me what good qualities a good friend should possess and I’ll decide whether you can or cannot enter our magnificent country.
