The book is based on research materials complied by the eminent expert on East Asia, with experience on the key Korean issues accumulated over four decades. The volume complies the results of studies on the issues of the Korean Peninsula, taking into account his practical experience used in formulating and implementing of a range of Russia's foreign policy initiatives in Northeast Asia. The book contains both valuable factual material, amassed in the course of events, and general analysis of key problems summarizing the various historical periods.

In this book the author also examines the main events and trends of Russian cooperation with both of the Korean states, the DPRK and the ROK. The book also describes economic development and concepts of foreign policy and practice of these two states, their bilateral relations. Special attention is paid to the comprehensive analysis of the unofficial reform and evolution of the socioeconomic structure of the DPRK. In addition, the author gives an outline of international formats for discussing the nuclear issue and missile programs of the Korean peninsula, as well as of multilateral regional cooperation.
