Inappropriate suture material
ОглавлениеSelection of an inappropriate suture material with insufficient tensile strength for the given tissues or that significantly decreases in tensile strength (resorption time) faster than tissue healing occurs for the respective tissue, increases the risk of dehiscence [5]. Interactions between the suture material and tissue can alter the characteristics of the suture and lead to suture failure [9]. Barbed sutures have been shown to increase the incidence of postoperative incisional dehiscence and erythema as wound complications [12].
