Matías Aránguiz

Matías is a Chilean lawyer but has moved into the area of financial technology and artificial intelligence. Currently he is deputy director of the Program of Law, Science and Technology of the Catholic University of Chile and partner in the law firm Quarkz. In addition, he is currently pursuing his PhD in the Regulation of AI in Financial Markets from Shanghai Jiaotong University. He received his Master's in Finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

John Berry

John is currently the IT Director for JUSDA Supply Chain Management, a member of the Foxconn Technology Group. In this role he leads a team that develops and implements technology solutions for the global manufacturing supply chain. Prior to JUSDA, John was the IT Director for NNR Global Logistics, a non‐asset‐based logistics provider. At NNR, John directed the USA IT operation as well as several global technology initiatives. This included leading various software development projects that powered NNR's air freight, ocean freight, customs, and warehousing operations. Ira Breskin

Ira Breskin is a senior lecturer at State University of New York Maritime College. He teaches applied economics, expository writing, and maritime history courses.

Breskin also is the author of The Business of Shipping (ninth edition), a seminal book that addresses industry economics, operations, and regulation.

He joined the SUNY Maritime faculty in September 2003 after completing a 25‐year career as a reporter/editor for several business publications. He continues to do freelance writing.

Breskin has a BA from Columbia University, an MBA from Dowling College, and a MS in International Trade and Transportation from SUNY Maritime. He has won several academic fellowships including a Knight Bagehot at Columbia University and a National Endowment for the Humanities award to study maritime history at Mystic Seaport.

Colin Cobb

Colin recently served as the Vice President of B2B, leading sales operations for nuLOOM/RUGSUSA.com, one of the largest global rugs and decor brands. He also has experience in leading the e‐commerce divisions for multiple consumer goods manufacturers in the home space. In addition to leading omni‐channel and e‐commerce teams, Colin has over 10 years of experience in supply chain and logistics management. His contributions with various organizations have expanded into digital marketing, product development, and optimizing retail dropship networks. He has a Master’s in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Georgia College State University, as well as his six‐sigma black belt.

Simon de Raadt

Simon is Vice President Europe at HyperSKU, Managing Partner at MAiNS International, and co‐founder of DigiDutch. He has been based in China since 2011 and active in cross‐border trade and e‐commerce logistics between China and Europe. His specialty lies in e‐commerce parcel deliveries from and to China. Prior to MAiNS, he has been working at TNT Post, Capgemini, and various other positions. Simon has a Master's degree in Business Economics at the University of Amsterdam.

Samuel Heuck

Sam is the founder and director of Atlas Sourcing Partners, a Hong Kong‐based trading company specializing in building materials. For six years, he was based in Shanghai where he led the turnarounds of two manufacturing businesses. Sam has transactional and operating experience in over 15 countries including India, Vietnam, and Germany with extensive experience and focus on China and Asia‐Pacific. At press time, he was an MBA candidate at MIT Sloan School of Management.

Ruben Huber

Ruben grew up in the trucking and warehousing business in Germany and held various management and executive roles in leading shipping lines, NVOCCs and intermodal operators across Europe, China and the Middle East. Today he is consulting on strategy, digitalization, internationalization, and logistics. He is the founder and director of OceanX, a network and think tank of leading seafreight specialist firms. He has a freight forwarding education, holds a German degree in business economics and an MBA from Aston University.

Cameron Johnson

Cameron has 20 years of experience in management across various industries in China. He drives the strategic consulting and advising initiatives at Tidal Wave Solutions. His expertise focuses on developing and executing strategy in difficult business environments, turning a business around to profitability, and operational excellence across a global company.

Cameron was a long‐serving Asia General Manager at a leading carbon fiber company, where he worked in close collaboration with European and US stakeholders, suppliers, downstream customers, and regulators. He participates extensively in the American Chamber of Commerce where he served as the Chairman of the Aerospace Sub‐committee in 2015–2017, and co‐chaired the Future Leaders Committee from 2016–2018. He is currently Vice Chair of the Manufacturers' Business Council, and an advisor to the National IDC Industrial Technological Innovation Strategic Alliance, a China‐based technology association.

Nicholas Krapels

Nic is the Managing Director for DarcMatter China. He is a leading blockchain expert in the Asia‐Pacific region and an experienced financial consultant. He has an MBA from the University of South Carolina and is pursuing his PhD in Political Theory from East China Normal University.

Wesley Li

Wesley Li is an IT and service operations director with more than 17 years of combined experience in the logistics, freight forwarding, manufacturing, business consulting, and technology services industries.

Over the past few years, Wesley has been focusing on bringing business and IT together and promoting the concept of “IT Business Partner,” shaping the traditional IT culture to fit the new IT business world. As a senior manager, he has been closely working with CEO and the senior management team to promote, drive, and resolve business issues by applying new technology. This great experience has given him many new business insights and turn them into innovations. He has demonstrated a capability to achieve business goals through innovative technology. He has a broad range of technical and information security expertise coupled with highly effective communications and interpersonal skills.

Cory Margand

Cory is the co‐founder and CEO of SimpliShip, which is an international air and ocean freight SaaS‐powered marketplace for freight procurement including a full suite of APIs. Cory has 14 years’ experience in supply chain management working with companies like Adidas and Rockport. Cory has a Master’s in Operations Design and Leadership from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Andrea Margheri

Andrea Margheri is a Cyber Security researcher and consultant specialized in digital identities and blockchain technology. Andrea holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pisa. Specialized in the design and deployment of access management systems, Andrea was with the University of Southampton where he coordinated research initiatives on blockchain in the context of EU H2020 projects and UK‐founded industrial projects.

Robert Mostert

Robert Mostert is Head of Human Resources of the Global Forwarding Division of the Toll Group. He joined Toll in March 2018 after having worked for nine years for Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), where he was Global Head of HR of its Risk function, followed by a number of years as Head of HR of its Global Information Technology area and SCB's Global Shared Services Centers.

Prior to his time at SCB, Robert worked as Global Director Human Resources of the Biochemicals Division of CSM, as Director Organizational Development of Innodata Corporation (a BPO provider that operates predominantly in the Philippines and India), and as Senior Manager of KPMG Consulting in Hong Kong.

Robert holds a Master's degree in Law from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands, an MBA from Bradford University Management Centre in the United Kingdom, and an Executive Master's Degree in Consulting and Coaching for Change from INSEAD. He has recently also completed the Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.

Axel Neher

Axel has 15 years of working experience for Bosch and Bosch Rexroth globally in various management and consulting positions in logistics and lean production. He has published several articles on supply chain management, international logistics management, and accounting. He has an MBA and a PhD from the University of Marburg.

Ayush Pandey

As a kid, the game of “Farmville” piqued Ayush Pandey's interest in the supply and demand. A supply chain enthusiast with a keen interest in global logistics, Ayush has leveraged exceptional cross‐functional collaborations at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Tata Power Ltd., and Philips Lighting to drive operational efficiencies in multimillion‐dollar global logistics and warehousing projects. Driving a positive change in all his professional engagements inspires Ayush to get to work every day. Currently pursuing his Master’s in Supply Chain Management (with a focus in logistics and transportation) from Northeastern University, Boston, Ayush is excited about two things in the shipping industry in the next decade: digitalization and de‐carbonization. Having witnessed the birth of mega‐ships, IMO 2020, and COVID‐19, there is not a single day when he does not think, “What an exciting time to be a Logistics professional!” Apart from his professional engagements, Ayush has spent a good part of the last decade in 100+ community building projects, and is passionate about women empowerment, ending hunger, and cross‐cultural communication.

Jens Puttfarcken

Dr. Ing. Jens Puttfarcken, 54 years old, has worked in the automotive sector for 29 years and moved from Fiat to Porsche in 1997. He has held multiple positions at Porsche AG, including Manager Sales of Porsche subsidiaries in Europe and subsequently in a worldwide capacity. In 2004 and 2010, he was appointed Vice President Customer Relations, and Vice President After Sales respectively at Porsche AG, contributing considerably to maintain Porsche customer brand loyalty and to enhance their enthusiasm for the brand. In 2015, Dr. Ing. Jens Puttfarcken was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Deutschland GmbH, where he was responsible for maintaining Porsche's stable development in the domestic market.

Dyci Sfregola

Dyci Manns Sfregola holds a Master’s in Engineering Management from Kennesaw State University's Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering. She spent the early part of her career in digital and experiential marketing before transitioning to supply chain. She is currently a consultant focused on Connected Planning process improvement and leveraging cloud‐based technology to achieve supply chain excellence.

Walter Simpson

Walter graduated from Clemson University in 2019 with a degree in supply chain management. After spending a summer in Hong Kong working for local 3PL Wilson Logistics Ltd., he began his career in February of 2020 with NNR Global Logistics in Dallas, TX. In his role as Process Coordinator for the Technology and Digital Promotion Team, he uses process mining and mapping techniques to analyze the current state of workflows and leads projects to implement improvements using digital solutions.

Jiayu Sun

Jiayu is a Senior Training Specialist at Bosch. She has experiences in instructional design, digital learning, internal marketing and communication and is a certified articulate storyline expert. Prior to that she worked in various functions at Bosch where she was responsible for competence management and learning innovation. Jiayu holds a bachelor’s degree from Shanghai International Studies University and Shanghai Dianji University.

Zheyuan Tang

Zheyuan Tang is an Economics graduate from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He was the General Manager at Perception Jewelers where he engaged with thousands of international clients and handled logistics operations. A first‐generation immigrant from China, Zheyuan has certifications from both Peking and Fudan University. He specializes in researches on international trade and relations.

Michael Babilon‐Teubenbacher

Michael Babilon‐Teubenbacher is Partner with CPC AG, the German hidden Champion in Change Management providing services in the fields of change, project and HR management as well as organizational development.

Having graduated in International Business Administration from the International Management Center in Krems, Austria and spent most of the past two decades outside of his home country, Michael is truly a global citizen. Apart from project assignments in Japan, Spain, the Netherlands, and Australia he has so far spent more than six years in China ramping up and leading CPC Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd., the local subsidiary of CPC Group, as CEO. In this function he has also spearheaded CPC’s activities in Asia.

In more than 16 years of consulting, he has gained in‐depth experience in transformation, strategy definition as well as organizational development projects in highly dynamic environments. While the automotive field clearly is his home‐turf, he feels just as well at ease in telecommunications, banking, and logistics where during many assignments at the interface between business and IT his ability to build bridges and thus drive successful transformation has proven a key success factor.

Bill Tran

Bill is a sophomore, studying Supply Chain Management and Information Systems at Texas Christian University. Bill is also pursuing a MicroMasters degree in Supply Chain Management at MIT. He is currently working on a startup which provides business intelligence tools for logistics companies to leverage their competitive advantages and exceed their customer expectations.

Alex von Stempel

Alex von Stempel has 30 years' experience as a commentator and trade journalist, most of which dedicated to freight transport and logistics of perishables.

Thirteen years ago, he set out on his own, devoting a significant proportion of his time to developing global and regional perishable logistics events, including Cool Logistics Global, Logistics Hub and Cool Logistics Asia, which is held alongside the Asia Fruit Exhibition in Hong Kong.

Alex von Stempel also works as an independent logistics adviser and frequently acts as master of ceremonies for third‐party events.

Scott Wang

Scott is Air Gateway Manager at UPS where he is responsible for managing the daily gateway air, space procurement and hub operations in Shanghai, ensuring superior service and developing innovative logistics solutions. Prior to that, he was a program manager for two of the most important accounts at UPS globally. Here, he led a team and managed complex projects and designed programs to ensure that projects were timely on board. Scott is member of the UPS China Millennial Business Resource Group, which supports innovation in the company by bringing a diverse set of ideas and insights to the job. Scott holds an MBA from Fudan University and a BSc from Shanghai International Studies University.

Andre Wheeler

Based in Perth, Western Australia, Andre runs the Asia‐Pacific Connex consultancy. With more than 20 years' experience in international business, he maintains a diverse network of personal contacts throughout the United States, Asia, SE Asia, Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Holding a B. Science (Hons) degree and an MBA, he is currently working toward his PhD on the Impact of the China One Belt One Road initiative on infrastructure and logistics in the ASEAN Region.

Author of the book: “China's Belt Road Initiative: The Challenge for The Middle Kingdom Through A New Logistics Paradigm,” he has also published and presented a number of papers concerning China's Belt Road Initiative and the changing Eurasian trade paradigm.

He is recognized for his contribution and participation in the development of the Western Australian government's Asian Engagement Strategy 2019–2030.

Lionel Willems

Lionel is team leader of project managers and business analysts in the open‐core ERP company Odoo. After graduating with a master's in supply chain management and international business from the Louvain School of Management (Belgium), he helped in digitalizing SMEs across Asia by working in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Hong Kong for three years. Strong in functional, technical, project management and cross‐industry knowledge, Lionel's contribution to this book reflects his passion for logistics, supply chains, and IT.

Dennis Wong

Dennis has 15 years' experience in various functions at leading third‐party logistics providers in the United States and China. Most recently he was the Director of Sales at Flexport Asia‐Pacific Region, and previously the Director of Sales and Marketing at Kuehne + Nagel Hong Kong, where he acted as Head of Sales for Hong Kong, South China, and Macau. Dennis studied at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona.

Duoqi Xu

Duoqi is a Professor of Law at Fudan University School of Law, Shanghai Shuguang Scholar and one of The Top Ten Excellent Young Jurists in Shanghai (fifth session). She was also a Fulbright visiting scholar at Harvard law school from 2016 to 2017, was a Hauser Global research fellow at NYU from 2008 to 2009, and a visiting professor at Taiwan University in 2013. Professor Xu is the chief‐editor of Internet Finance Law Review, the Director of Center for Internet Finance Law Innovation of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Jiao Xu

Jiao Xu is a Global Customs Analyst at Flexport in Amsterdam office. Compliance of international trade and logistics is a constant focus in both her academic and professional career. She did her master’s of Global Supply Chain management and Change at Maastricht University in the Netherlands after finishing the bachelor program of Logistics Management in Shanghai Customs College. She did research in supply chain compliance and visibility in B2C E‐commerce between China and Europe, discussing from the perspective of multiple stakeholders throughout the supply chain.
