Conclusion
ОглавлениеEvaluation of vocal fold vibration has shown significant advances in both the fidelity of the captured image as well as the rate of image capture. Today, we can routinely use 4k imaging to obtain real-time photographic and cinematic quality videos of the larynx with stroboscopy illumination that far surpasses image quality of just 10 years ago. These changes will allow the clinician to see images of the vocal folds in motion with greater detail. With HSV, the ultrafast imaging modality can free the clinician from quasi-periodic vocal fold oscillation imaging using the strobe light to real-time imaging of vocal fold oscillation. When coupled with image processing tools that can objectively track either the glottal width and or the vocal edge by kymography, the clinician has a powerful new tool that can be applied to previously difficult to study problems in neurolaryngology that include both the hyperkinetic and hypokinetic dysphonia.
