Microscopic anatomy
ОглавлениеThe cutaneous nerves contain axons with the cell bodies lying in the dorsal root ganglia. The main nerve trunks enter the subcutaneous fat and divide into smaller bundles that form a horizontal network with fibres ascending alongside blood vessels to form a plexus of interlacing nerves in the superficial dermis. A few reach the basement membrane but do not extend far into the epidermis. The hair follicle has a complex nerve network, being an important cutaneous receptor.
