Optimum pollination time for Egremont Russet is early May; the tree is of medium vigour and upright habit, hardy and a good cropper; it is resistant to scab but prone to bitter pit. Picking is by hand in late September and early October. Grading is by diameter (sizes are set according to variety) and by quality (EU standards, for appearance) into Grade 1 or Grade 2. Egremont Russet can be stored for only a short time.
