Work

Оглавление

I always believed that a person should love their work. Yes, of course, to get a job that you love will most likely take time to accomplish in your life. Many people would want a great income, great benefits like health, dental and vision insurance, as well as a 401k, and for some, pension. They would also like a great working staff that they work with.

Now I have never really had a job with any real benefits, but that’s because I never cared about benefits, since I knew it was a temporary job and it wasn’t going to be something that I wanted to do for a long time. I also did not care about benefits as I did about salary or hourly pay. I am 22 years old and am a healthy 22 year old boy, and felt that I don’t need benefits, just money. I needed money like everyone else to pay bills that I had, which was not much, but also keep some for myself to have if I ever needed it, and buy something nice like a new care which I did not to long ago. But if I was going to keep something long term, then yes, I need benefits.

I am currently unemployed as I write this book and have no intention of getting a job at the moment. I always wanted to create something like a book, show or film. My dream job or career, of course would be an actor and writer and maybe eventually director. I have experience working on projects in the filming industry with just about every job, except hair and make-up. I have been an actor, writer, director, producer, editor, choreographer and trainer. I have also worked in the sound department as well as lighting department, I just tried to see what I love in the movie business, and it turned out acting and writing. That is my dream job. Mainly to pretend to be every kind of job, legal or illegal, and jobs that are impossible to be, like a superhero or even god. And the writer has complete creative control of the content and can basically write about whatever he wants, only if gets bought.

Going back to dreams, everyone should at least try to follow their dreams and do something they love or at least try it, who knows, you might not like it. That’s why I want to try and follow my dreams and you should too. It will be a journey, but the journey will make you appreciate the destination more, when you achieve it.

I have experience working several jobs such as management, sales, retail, accounting and reception. My favorite job was actually working in a movie theater, even though that was my only minimum wage job, it was the best since it relates most to my skill. I loved the people and location, but I left that job my sophomore year of college, which I also started that year too, and the year I changed from medical to film. You have to try different things before you choose the path you want to take.

The way I got the job as an accountant, is that I lied on my resume and in the interview because I was desperate for a job. If you really want a specific job and have no official experience, then lie, no one will find out and anyways they will train you. Just think, who would they take if they had 2 choices: the person with some to many years of experience with that type of job, or a newly graduated student who majored in that subject? Most likely the experienced one, you won’t have to train that person as much. You can lie, no one will really check.

Something I really did not like was customer service jobs. You need it to communicate with people that don’t work the same job as you, people you don’t know, and sometimes don’t want to know. I hated the saying that the customer is always right, I would say that many customers are full of shit and don’t deserve shit if they act like shit. Though you have to treat them with the most respect if you want to keep your job, like me, I did diss some customers because I got sick and tired of them and the job. Always remember to respect the work place, it may be temporary and you might find something better eventually, if you want to.

You need patience when you find work to stay for a while. To find something you love can take a while but you most likely will find it as long as you don’t give up and stay at a miserable job until you get old and retire. You should not finish school and find a job you hate and stay for most of your life wishing something better but not doing anything about it, and then retire and die, not having lived a life that you wanted.
