THE COMPANY

KIM BEVERIDGEVideo Designer

Since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2005, with a BA honours degree in ‘Time Based Art’ Kim has been working as a Digital Artist, Video Designer for live performance and Sound Artist. She is an associate artist with Tricky Hat Theatre Company and work to date includes Roadkill a multi-award-winning theatre production for Pachamama Productions. Wall of Death, a multimedia performance in collaboration with National Theatre of Scotland and Whatever Gets You Through The Night, created by Cora Bissett with Swimmer One and David Greig for The Arches as part of a Vital Spark commission.

JULIE BROWNViolet/Sheila the Feeler, Producer

Julie trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (previously RSAMD). Julie is co-Artistic Director and Producer of Random Accomplice.

As a performer, director and producer her work has lead her across Scotland and further afield to Czech Republic, Holland, Italy and most recently to New York. She has worked for a range of Companies including National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Opera and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as well as choreographing and directing for various Youth Companies.

Most recent credits for Random Accomplice include Double Nugget (Director & Performer); The Promise (Producer); Smalltown (Performer); Little Johnny’s Big Gay Wedding (Director & Performer); Little Johnny’s Big Gay Musical (Director & Choreographer).

Julie will next be directing Cinderella for macrobert followed by a Kurt Weil double bill for the Scottish Opera Connect Company.

FIONA BURNESSTechnical Stage Manager

Fiona has been a technician for 14 years. Working mainly venue based, she started her career in the Lemon Tree, Aberdeen where she was a sound engineer and theatre technician for 8 years. Having then worked in the new Grove Theatre, Dunstable and Aberdeen’s Music Hall, Fiona has spent the last 2½ years as a freelance technician and stage manager based in Glasgow working with artists Donna Rutherford and Nic Green and companies including Scottish Youth Theatre, Scottish Opera, Plan B and Youth Music Theatre UK to name a few.

JANE HAMILTONPress & Marketing Manager

Jane Hamilton is a Press and Marketing consultant who has been involved in the arts in Scotland for 20 years. Jane specialises in press, publicity and promotion and has provided press and marketing support for theatre, film, dance, galleries and other creative organisations in Scotland.

Jane has worked with Random Accomplice on their previous three shows Promises Promises, Smalltown and Double Nugget. She also works with National Theatre of Scotland (Allotment, A Christmas Carol, One Day in Spring & Reveal 2012). She has also been involved with the Scotland Loves Anime festival since its inaugural festival in 2010. Other companies Jane has worked with include David Leddy/Fire Exit (on the award-winning shows White Tea and Susurrus), Vanishing Point Theatre Company, Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, Theatre Cryptic and Ankhur Productions. She also carried out the hugely successful press campaign for the launch of Black Camel Production’s first feature film Outpost (Sony 2009).

Jane is the Press & Publicity Advisor for the Cultural Enterprise Office in Scotland.

KAY HESFORDStage Management

Since graduating from the University of Glasgow in Theatre, Film and Television, Kay has worked for numerous companies such as Paragon Ensemble, Tall Stories, Suspect Culture, and The Tron. As a founding member of Bard in the Botanics she was production manager for their festival for many years and continues to be an associate artist. She was Technical Administrator at Gilmorehill G12 for three years, and since becoming freelance again she has stage-managed for a number of companies including Magnetic North, Birds of Paradise, Macrobert, The Traverse Theatre and Random Accomplice.

JAMIE MACDONALDAnimation

Jamie graduated from Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2003 with an honours degree in Drawing and Painting. Since 2005 he has been based in Glasgow – teaching, illustrating, designing and animating for various companies including Scottish Opera, NTS, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Visible Fictions, Tron Theatre, Macrobert, The Arches and Random Accomplice. He is particularly proud of his work with Random Accomplice, having created animated trailers for past shows Promises Promises, Smalltown and Double Nugget and also one for See Thru Sam.

JAMES MACKENZIEUncle Herbie/Chip the Grip/Walrus

James trained at Queen Margaret University College Edinburgh.

James is probably best known as Raven, appearing regularly on CBBC. He has also appeared in: Danni’s House (The Foundation/BBC TV), Smart Guest Presenter (CBBC), Sleeping Beauty (CBBC Christmas Special); See You See Me – Presenter (BBC); Still Game series V (Comedy Unit/BBC Scotland); Rebus (Clerkenwell Films/STV) and Taggart (STV).

Radio includes: 44 Scotland Street (BBC Radio 4), A Small Blue Thing (BBC Radio Scotland), A Meeting in Service (BBC Radio Scotland) & various short stories and children’s programmes for BBC Radio Scotland.

JOHNNY MCKNIGHTWriter and Director

Johnny trained at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the BA Honours (Contemporary Theatre Practice) course. His directing credits include: Love Hurts, Smalltown, Promises Promises (Scotland, London, New York runs), Marymassacre, Something Wicked, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Adventure (Random Accomplice); Aganeza Scrooge (Tron Theatre); Jackie & The Beanstalk, Snow White, Mother Goose, Little Shop of Horrors (macrobert); Bye Bye Birdie (Dance School of Scotland); Burying Your Brother In The Pavement (RSAMD/National Theatre); Hinterland, DNA, MicroShakespeare, Choose Your Channel (RSAMD). He has also worked as a performer with a multitude of arts organisations including: National Theatre of Scotland, Arches Theatre, Complete Productions, Scottish Opera, 7:84 Theatre Company, macrobert Arts Centre, Glasgow Repertory Company and Visible Fictions.

Educational work includes National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Opera, 7:84 Theatre Company, National Theatre of Scotland, Arches Theatre Company, Langside College, RCS and Scottish Youth Theatre.

Johnny is currently working on several new productions for 2012: Cinderella (Royal Lyceum), Aganeza Scrooge (Tron Theatre), Last One Out (Scottish Opera), Beloved (BBC Radio Scotland), The Incredible Adventures of See Thru Sam (Random Accomplice) and Room 7 (Traverse).

ALAN PENMANComposer and Sound Designer

Alan Penman trained at the RSAMD and has 20 years experience in composing, arranging and performing music for theatre, television and radio.

He is a versatile composer whose work has ranged from huge orchestral pieces, to music for children’s television.

Alan has written and arranged scores for all sizes of band and orchestra and also arranges, produces and records his music in his own studio in Edinburgh.

He has worked and performed in most major theatres in Scotland; in the last year, clients have included the National Theatre of Scotland, Edinburgh Lyceum and Macrobert Centre.

His television clients include BBC, STV, CITV and BBC Alba.

GILLY ROCHEAssistant Producer

Gilly is an independent producer based in Glasgow and received the Federation of Scottish Theatre’s Producer’s Bursary in 2012, enabling her to work with Random Accomplice on The Incredible Adventures of See Thru Sam.

Current and recent projects include the Fringe First-winning FLÂNEURS (Jenna Watt), The Last Polar Bears, Staging the Nation and Five Minute Theatre (National Theatre of Scotland) and The Jean-Jacques Rousseau Show (A Play, A Pie and A Pint). She’s also worked as a graphic designer with the San Francisco Mime Troupe in California and with McCann-Erickson in Barcelona. Gilly also produces fringe theatre and arts events at the Southside Studios in Glasgow under the guise of The Wherewithal.

LISA SANGSTERSet and Costume Design

Lisa trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her designs for Random Accomplice include Double Nugget, Smalltown, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Wedding, Promises, Promises, Cinderella and Little Johnny’s Big Gay Musical. Other design credits include – Educating Ronnie (macrobert/Utter/HighTide), My Romantic History (Borderline), Jackie and the Beanstalk, Snow White of the Seven De’Wharffes (macrobert), Baby Baby, Talking Heads (Dundee Rep), First Wave, Curse of the Demeter, State of Emergency (Visible Fictions), Transform Dumfries (NTS), Carthage Must Be Destroyed (Ustinov Studio, Bath). Future Work includes: Whisky Galore and The Snow Queen (Dundee Rep)

DAVE SHEAProduction Manager and Lighting Designer

Dave has worked in Scottish Theatre for 17 years as a Lighting Designer, Production Manager and Technical Manager.

Dave has been Production Manager and Lighting Designer for Random Accomplice since 2006 working on Something Wicked, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Adventure (twice!), Little Johnny’s Big Gay Musical (twice!), Mary Massacre (twice!), 7 Year Itch, Promises Promises, Little Johnny’s Big Gay Wedding, Smalltown, Love Hurts and Double Nugget.

The Incredible Adventures of See Thru Sam will be Dave’s 10th show with the company.

DAVID SNEDDONStage Manager

Since graduating from the RSAMD, David has Production Managed for 7:84 and Scottish Opera Education, and Stage Managed for a variety of companies including the National Theatre of Scotland, 7:84, Vanishing Point, Scottish Opera Education, Catherine Wheels, and Suspect Culture. David spent the last 4 years as the resident Tron Theatre Stage Manager before returning to the world of freelance. Previously, David worked on Little Johnny’s Big Gay Musical, Something Wicked and Intermission – A Tale of Loss and Regret for Random Accomplice and is delighted to be back for The Incredible Adventures of See Thru Sam.

JAMES YOUNGSam McTannan

James’s previous theatre credits include; Heartbreak Soup (The Empty Space), Paisley to Paolo (Oran Mor), Nasty, Brutish and Short (Traverse Theatre/National Theatre of Scotland), The Sunday Lesson (Oran Mor), That Face (Tron Theatre), Burning Your Boats (Oran Mor), Piece of My Heart (Oran Mor).

His television and film credits include; Locked Up Abroad (Raw TV), Casualty (BBC), Taggart (SMG), Boy A (Cuba Films), Doctors (BBC), River City (BBC), Scottish Killers (BBC) Involuntary (BBC), Kitchen (Ecosse Films), The Afternoon Play – Glasgow Dreams (BBC), Still Game (The Comedy Unit), The Karen Dunbar Show (The Comedy Unit), Hamish Macbeth (BBC), Laidoff (Wilder Films) and Gamerz (Pure Magic Films).
