GRANDSTAND, SUMMERS LANE 1930 Grade II
ОглавлениеPercival T. Harrison and Owen Williams
West Finchley N12 0PD
Sports grandstand built for the Finchley Urban District Council, and designed by borough architect Percival T. Harrison with engineering advice from Owen Williams. It is the oldest reinforced concrete cantilevered stand in Britain and has two terraces with end glazing facing two different pitches – football one side and rugby the other. T-shaped concrete ribs support the roofs of both stands and allow unimpeded views for spectators. The stand was built as part of a bigger project for Finchley Borough, which also included a lido and other facilities, now sadly demolished.
