Dear Fellow Lovers of Singing,

I have always loved singing. Some of my early childhood memories include attempts to blast out songs by famous opera singers and pop stars. People told me I was talented, but the fact is, everything we love, pursue, and become good at – especially during childhood – can be called a talent. Many people believe talent is a gift – so did I. It took me many years to discover that vocal power and the capability to use one's voice to sing well, can be learned. I found out that, even if you have a good foundation, a good ear, the talent for music, and the physiology (which are all naturally helpful, and can spare you years of training) you can always improve your voice through practical training, professional guidance, proper techniques, and even some helpful tricks.

With over 20 years of experience as both a professional singer and vocal teacher, I also learned that it is best not to refer to specific books, tutorials, or voice-training exercises without first consulting an effective teacher. Without professional guidance, it is very common to develop bad vocal habits which make it impossible to discover the full potential of your voice, and which you may then need to UN-learn!

You might ask my purpose in publishing this book. My answer is that there are certain things you should know about your voice before you sing, and some exercises you can safely practice on your own – like the ones I summarize in this little guide. For best results, experiment and practice them daily, and:

HAVE FUN!
