ONE Understanding Covenant And Inheritance
Оглавление“For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise…”
Galatians 3:18
The bible is a book about covenant and succession. If we can see and understand the connection between the two, our lives will never be the same again. We will never again try to inherit by works what God has bequeathed upon us as a result of covenant. The grace of God is about covenant and inheritance. Salvation is about covenant and inheritance. It is about the Father’s unconditional love for His children. The Apostle Paul told King Agrippa in Acts 26:15-18 that he was sent to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles, “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”
It is very strange that very little is said in books and sermons about the inheritance that we have in Christ and its connection to covenant. To talk about the inheritance without connecting it to covenant will always fall short of the true grace of God. One of the reasons why it is so difficult for the body of Christ to appropriate the grace of God is the fact that when the subject of inheritance is addressed, it is always based on God’s unconditional love only but very seldom connected to covenant. It is this missing link that is making it so difficult for the heirs of the Kingdom of God to take possession of their inheritance.
Notice from what the Apostle Paul said to King Agrippa that his mission was for us to receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance. Many people know about the forgiveness of sins, but very few know about the inheritance. The focus is placed on the forgiveness of sins with no emphasis on the inheritance. The forgiveness of sins is the first step. It is the starting point and not the destination. Once a Believer is born-again, the focus must shift to taking possession of the inheritance.
