CHAPTER 2

A MONTH LATER -JACK’S GYM -

The gym has couple of guys sparring and some others working out. The team owns the gym and let others go thru a membership. It smells of musk and mold and old cheese, not that any of the guys there notice.

Vicky enters with Hank; she is glammed up all in pink. Hank is suited up nicely in a dark blue suit. They are definitely out of place there. Right away Vicky makes a face when she a gets a whiff of the smell. They make their way to the office and stop at the ring to watch the sparring; she asks Matty where the rest of the guys are. He tells her they are in the office already. She tells him to come along too; this is for all the team.

Matty stops the fight and tells each what they need to work on and he’ll see them afterwards. He gets out of the ring and heads to the office right behind Hank and Vicky.

GYM OFFICE -

The rest of the guys are discussing what Vicky could be up to now. No one knows anything. Robert’s sorry, yet not sorry for what happened at the party, but that it ruined the sale. No one blames him, it’s something they have to live with for now. Maybe she’ll get tired and sell it to someone, anyone.

The door opens and Vicky, Hank and Matty enter. Vicky and Hank set themselves up behind the desk and face the team.

DANNY

“What’s up?”

VICKY

“We’ve got a proposition.”

The team looks at each other with eyebrows raised, while Vicky and Hank smile slyly.

ROBERT

(Wryly) “Well what is it?”

HANK

“We are going to have a contest; a reality based contest.”

EVERYONE AT ONCE

“A what??!! What the Hell?”

MATTY

“What’s this got to do with us?”

VICKY

“Well it’s a boxing contest, really

a trainers contest. There will be

trainers competing to be Danny’s trainer.”

ROBERT

“What the hell?”

Everyone is upset, wondering whose cock-a meme idea this was. Vicky and Hank like the looks on their faces, exactly the reaction they were hoping for.

Hank tells them the details; the trainers will have people to train for 8 weeks, these people will not be boxers, but regular people who have not boxed a day in their life before, then there will be a tournament at the end of 8 weeks, in a double elimination.

Winning trainer gets to be Danny’s trainer, some money; the winning boxer will get money. There are 9 top best trainers from around the world picked and signed up already and one standby.

DANNY (almost yelling and in a panic)

“What about Robert? He's got a contract! He's MY trainer!”

VICKY

“He is welcome to compete, if he

wins, he keeps training you, if he

loses or doesn’t compete, he’s

going to be reduced to janitor,

gopher and whatever lowly thing I can think of.”

ROBERT

“That’s bullshit, I’ve got a contract.”

HANK

“Yes, only to be here for 5 more

years, it doesn’t specify as what.

Check it yourself.”

VICKY

“What’s it gonna be Robert? We have

to know right now if you’re in it

or not, we’ve got a press meeting

to announce the contest.”

HANK

“We’ve got to get the campaign underway.”

The team tells Robert that he can do it, he should do it, and Robert is sitting there thinking about it. We see a flicker of something come over him; he gets up and faces Vicky.

ROBERT

“I will do this, BUT... When I win, you

sell out to us for half of what

it’s worth.”

The team gets excited and a light of hope fills their eyes.

VICKY

(sickly sweet) “Sure, but when

you lose, you will do whatever

I want, ‘whatever’ I want...”

The deals are accepted. Robert is asked to sign the entry form. Hank and Vicky feeling very victorious get up to leave and Vicky stops and tells them to watch the announcement, it’ll have some important information. The team also feeling victorious pumps up Robert, knowing he is sure to win. Finally they will be rid of Vickie.
