The story of “The Three Lemons” is not a native Scandinavian growth, but of foreign extraction (Asbjörnsen, Norske Folkeeventyr, Ny Samling, Christiania, 1871, p. 22, No. 66), and is a tale very popular in the Orient. Yet Asbjörnsen heard it from a plain woman in Christiania, which would prove that it had become naturalized in the North.
