Chapter 3: The family lets go to the forest
ОглавлениеAfter a day filled with excitement and anticipation at school, Karina practically danced her way home, her backpack bouncing on her shoulders with each skip. As she approached her cozy little house on the outskirts of town, she couldn’t wait to share the thrilling news of the day’s assignment with her family.
Bounding through the front door, Karina was greeted by the comforting warmth of home and the inviting aroma of her mother’s cooking. Chuck was already sprawled out on the living room floor, engrossed in a book about bugs, his face illuminated by the soft glow of the lamp beside him.
– Mom, Dad, guess what? – Karina exclaimed, practically bursting with excitement.
Her parents looked up from their tasks with gentle smiles, their eyes twinkling with curiosity.
– What is it, sweetheart? – her mother asked, setting down her knitting needles.
– We have the most amazing assignment for school, – Karina gushed, barely able to contain her excitement.
– We have to go into the forest and collect ten popular beetles to study for our science class! —
Her father chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners with amusement. – Well, that sounds like quite the adventure, Karina. But are you sure it’s safe to go into the forest alone? —
Karina nodded eagerly, her curls bouncing with each movement. – Mrs. Jenkins said we’ll be fine as long as we stick together and stay cautious. Please, Mom, Dad, can Chuck and I go? It’ll be so much fun!
Her parents shared a knowing glance, silently communicating their mutual concern for their children’s safety. But seeing the excitement shining in Karina’s eyes, they couldn’t help but smile and nod in agreement.
– Alright, you two, – her father said, his voice filled with warmth and affection. – But promise me you’ll be careful and watch out for each other, okay? —
– We promise, Dad! – Karina exclaimed, throwing her arms around her father in a tight hug.
With their parents’ blessing, Karina and Chuck hurried upstairs to gather their supplies for the adventure ahead. They packed their backpacks with notebooks, pencils, and magnifying glasses, eager to embark on their quest to uncover the mysteries of the forest.
