As the sun reached its peak in the sky, casting a warm glow over the river, Adam, Thiago, and Matilda continued their fishing expedition. Adam’s sharp eyes spotted a particularly promising spot, and with a deft flick of his wing, he cast his line into the water.

Suddenly, there was a tug on Adam’s line, causing it to bend and sway. With a triumphant squawk, Adam began reeling in his catch, eager to see what he had hooked. As the fish emerged from the water, Adam’s eyes widened in surprise.

– Wow, this one’s a whopper! – exclaimed Thiago, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

But before Adam could toss the fish into the bucket, it began to speak.

– Wait, please don’t put me in there! – pleaded the fish in a surprisingly clear and articulate voice.

Adam blinked in astonishment, his feathers ruffling in disbelief.

– Did that fish just talk? – he squawked, turning to Thiago and Matilda for confirmation.

Thiago and Matilda exchanged puzzled glances before nodding in agreement.

– I heard it too, – said Thiago, his voice tinged with wonder.

The fish, whose name was Steve, continued to plead for mercy.

– I promise I mean you no harm, – he said earnestly.

– I just want to talk.

Adam, still reeling from the shock of the talking fish, cautiously approached Steve.

– What do you want to talk about? – he asked, his curiosity piqued.

Steve explained that he had been granted the gift of speech by a magical spell and had spent his days swimming in the river, observing the creatures that lived above the surface. He had always longed to converse with them but had never had the opportunity until now.

Intrigued by Steve’s story, Adam decided to spare him from the bucket and instead placed him gently back into the water. – You’re welcome to swim alongside us and chat, – Adam said with a friendly smile.

Steve’s eyes lit up with gratitude as he swam off into the depths of the river, his newfound friends following close behind. And as they continued their fishing expedition, Adam, Thiago, Matilda, and Steve shared stories and laughter, grateful for the unexpected friendship that had blossomed on that sunny day by the river.
