In 1887 a young boy George Winkler, when he was at the age of 17 years began the sport of rock climbing.
History of rock climbing is very interesting and deep’ whenever a man saw the rock he tried to climb over it, it looks amazing but that’s true.
The people who lived in mountainous areas, rock climbing has become the necessity of those people.
In older times, town people lived and built their homes in cliffs and rocks and used them as a shelter.
Rock climbing techniques have been evolved by many winning armies, who fought in mountainous areas and climbed up castles and fortresses and used their structures for defense and protection purposes.
In the late 1800 rock climbing became and considered as a sport rather than a game reaching from one place to another.
During Victorian era the study of natural world was commonly a fashionable issue and the rock climbing rose up as a famous sport during this era.

This climb became very famous and publicized, after this sixty climbers decided together to climb up this natural peak.
Emilio Comici, is considered by many people as the father of advance rock climbing. He was the climber in 1930 and explored many climbing aids like solid belays, hanging bivouacs and the method of using of the tag line. Emilio comici is also famous for discovering big wall climbing and advance techniques.
Ordinary people think that the rock climbing is a part of mountain climbing and this theory remained acceptable for many years
The rock climbing was considered as a training activity. It was also considered a better way to gain fitness and to use the skills for the challenge of mountain climbing.
History of grading system:
With the passage of time as the rock climbing became famous, a grading system has been started in it which calculates both difficulty of the climbing and the climbers ability.
Rock climbing became famous all over the world but because lack of sharing the knowledge of grading system and climbing styles, it was not as easy as today. Every country has developed its own different climbing styles according to its particular geography and available climbing gear.
Rock climbing history gear:
A huge variety of advanced rock climbing gears is present nowadays. It includes not only safety equipment but also it contains aids to make the climbing procedure convenient.
First part of rock climbing equipment is rope. There are two uses of rope for climbing, firstly it is used as a safety purpose and secondly to climb up the rocks.
Ascenders are parts of mechanical equipment which are used to climb up the rope. Ascending is mostly used in adventure racing.
The next part of equipment is Helmets. It is used for safety purpose.
Some other devices which are used with climbing rope are carabineers, quickdraws, belay devices, rappel devices and harnesses.
There are many different types of carabineers and each carabineer is used for different connections.
Quick draws are the tools through which climbing rope passes with less friction.
Belay and rappel devices are also used for climbing up the rock.
Harnesses are also the safety equipment. It connects climber to the climbing rock.
Many protection tools are used by climbers. These tools or devices get fixed into the rock face. These devices are connected with climbing rope which helps to climb up.
Rock climbing comprises of many types including indoor climbing, aid climbing, solo climbing, alpine climbing and ice climbing. Each of these requires different skills and experiences.
Rock climbing history skills:
In early stages it was considered that only upper body parts took strongly participate in rock climbing but now it is not as such true. When you climb up the rock your legs and feet do more struggle to climb up the rock. Participation of your legs and feet is much more counted than your hands.
Actually rock climbing is a sport is not dependable completely on physical strength and fitness.
Only due to your mental strength and decision power ability, when you struggle to climb up, your physical strength and fitness automatically increase. When you use your mental abilities, these help you to overcome the fear of heights.
