Written in December 2002, one year after Dan had disappeared, immediately prior to the first edition being printed, and prior to the discovery at Swanage.

We have watched those desperate appeals on TV by parents whose children have gone missing, so many times it seems. “What a terrible situation, we could never cope if we lost one of our children!”

All natural reactions, never believing that we would ever be in this situation – but, here we are. Never believing that out of our five children it would happen to Dan, but it has.

Nobody is invincible. Life is very fragile. This can happen to anybody irrespective of class, nationality, religion or location. It is devastating to the friends and families who have to deal with a loved one being missing, the not knowing! We need to know where Dan is and this is why we were happy for Mark to write Dan’s story in the form of this play.
