World’s last typewriter factory ends production.

Indian company Godrej and Boyce became the last in the world to stop producing mechanical typewriters in 2009 and now has just a few hundred remaining. All the manufacturers of office typewriters stopped production, except us,» said Milind Dukle, general manager of operations at Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing Company. At one point in time the typewriter was seen to be a status symbol, according to Samar Mallick of typewriter seller Mallick Company, and used models do still prove popular. However, he also told the news provider: «Who needs typewriters now!»
