You’ve been watching for signs. You think he might like you. You’re ready to

tell him you like him. How do you do it?

Well, some girls will write a note. The problem is that once you put your

words out there on paper—or, worse, in a text or online—you can’t be sure

where they’ll end up. Will this boy be the only one who reads what you’ve

written? Maybe. But your message could just as easily get passed around to

half the kids in school.

You could also get a friend to tell the boy for you. This has its advantages.

If he says he doesn’t like you, you don’t have to melt into a puddle of

embarrassment right at his feet. On the other hand, it’s peculiar when you

think about it. If you like a guy, shouldn’t you be able to talk to him

yourself?
