First, this book is dedicated to my husband, Rick, who is my rock and biggest supporter. “Take one thing at a time” got me through some tough times! It’s also dedicated to the rest of my family, friends and colleagues who always support me no matter how crazy my ideas. To the many Master Gardener Volunteers around the world – you are an amazing group of dedicated people who not only give back to your community by teaching others about gardening, but you are always so eager to learn and are always seeking additional knowledge. To my co-author Maria – thanks for inviting me to be a part of the special adventure! And finally, this book is for my dad and mom: for Dad, who has encouraged me to write a book ever since I started writing about gardening in 1992; and for Mom, for getting me my first job in horticulture that stirred my passion.
