Dear Reader,

I hope you enjoyed the story of Eva and Willis. This is the second time in my career I have created a character who can’t read. The first time was in my very first Love Inspired novel back in 2006 called His Bundle of Love. In that book it was the heroine. In this book I chose the hero because I wanted to show that sometimes strong men may not know how to ask for help. Willis was a blacksmith, a man of faith and willing to take on raising his siblings, but he was ashamed of what he thought was his defect.

I think some of us are like Willis. We love our faith and our family and we work to keep everything together. People may even see us as the “strong one,” but inside we can be hurting. Maybe it’s depression. Maybe it’s worry over money or a failing marriage or an illness. At times we hide things from our family in order to protect them. So many times we think we can tough it out. Just get through it.

False pride kept Willis silent and he almost lost the love of his life. Don’t let false pride keep you from finding peace of mind. Ask for help if you need it. I promise no matter what is wrong, you aren’t alone.

Many blessings,

Patricia Davids
