We walk down a dark street in a small provincial town. It’s already dark, and we follow one fifteen-year-old girl in a light red silk dress as she passes by. We don’t know it yet, but I hope you’ll learn a lot about it.
Her name is Klara and she loves life very much, this is evident from the fact that she sings a cheerful song under her breath, which is often broadcast on the radio. She wanders, through the bright streets of the shopping district, the signs of expensive shops and restaurants lighting up her path. Klara went to college at the UNKNA Institute as an astronaut pilot. Even as a child, she liked to watch science fiction movies where the hero cosmonaut saves the planet, kills monsters and surfs the universe.
She had an excellent face, and you can immediately tell that she was a beauty. He had a regular, even nose, blue eyes, and shoulder-length blond hair.
Klara came to her house “9 Romashkovaya Street”. Follow him up the gloomy stairs. We went up to the second floor. She stopped at one of the iron doors and started to open it.

As she was coming down the stairs, she saw her friend

And our friends talked together about yesterday.. As they go, I’ll tell you about the Vector. His real name is Victor, but it is a child’s name given on their planets of the constellation “Islands”. So called due to the fact that according to legend, a person named Elf will be happy and rich, but he must go through many difficulties. And many parents called their children by this name, in the hope that they would be happier than them. He was 17. He was born on 1 Zana (January 1 according to our calendar). And he was exactly six months older than her.
Our friends on the way met Dasha (she had a round face, she did not shine with slimness, as well as intelligence), Klara’s girlfriend, they have been dating since childhood. She was studying with her at the same institute as a mechanic of spaceships (but from her appearance, it was difficult for her to trust a small child, and not a ship). But her parents were in the chamber of all the planets of the Empire and received a lot of money (they had the right connections).
While I was telling them, they reached the institute and went to their groups. There were ten people in Klara’s group. Everyone had to wear a mind-transforming helmet to facilitate the learning process. If a student is asked, no one can interrupt or prompt him, because you can’t talk while wearing a helmet.
After answering all the questions, she headed for the exit. The Institute was huge, with its long columns and massive arches giving it a pompous appearance. Even the door through which she left was made of expensive wood, very strong but extremely light.
The student left the institute and went to the park near the institute. She wandered around the park, waiting for her friends. And I thought, “What is a person? Is he the only one on the planet Myriad (Looking up at the sky)? Do only the kind of people on our spiral planets deserve to live in the universe (Eyes down)? Do I love Dasha, does she love me? A fairy tale thought both of Klara’s friends, but she herself believed that one day she would find a new universe. After that, they went to their friend Dorn. He was strong and smart, he secretly loved Dasha and Klara herself and in every possible way wanted to separate her from her, so that he would meet one of them. But doing it so discreetly that he remained their friend for many years. He was twenty-six years old, working as an engineer at Decad 2 station.
Our friends, having visited him, immediately sat down at their crown seats and began to tell interesting stories that they had read on the Internet, began to argue what was fashionable this season, argued whether to buy a new phone” Pevon 7 “or stay on"Pevon 6 With+”. After several hours of arguments, they decided that tomorrow they would buy new models of the phone, so as not to lag behind, Dasha would pay for everything, because she was a rich woman and always bought everything for her friends. The victims were two schoolgirls who secretly met with him when they were 16 years old. Katya and Tanya were their first names.
Not knowing anything, Klara walked home humming a tune from the radio. She dreamed of a peaceful future. How she wakes up as the pilot of the empire’s largest battleship. How he would take over the universe with the Emperor himself. Passing a small river, dirty, from a nearby chemical plant, I noticed that a guy in his twenties was drowning there. She took off her dress and ran to the poor man’s aid. Dragging him to the beach and performing CPR saved him. She recognized him-Leonid, he had studied with her at the same institute as a military pilot. I dragged him to the hospital and waited a few hours to make sure he was okay and went home.
In the evening, the guards fly in and put her in the bullpen. When Leonid found out about this, he informed his father, and he promised to help. Leonid’s father was the only one, and even the only person who could help him, he was the Emperor. No one knew his real name. Everyone knew that he lived for more than five thousand years (5385 years). This was the normal life span for upper-class people. Leonid liked Klara very much, and he couldn’t believe that such a girl could be a criminal.

The trial passed quickly, and they were sent to Mars. They were put in a freezing chamber, and they instantly found themselves in place. Once talking to her, he confessed that he had an escape plan and a plan to seize power. Her teenage heart, which wanted everything new, happily accepted this offer.
A year has passed since that conversation. Klara had half a year left to sit, and one day while wandering around the library, he found the code of laws of the empire published at the beginning of the Emperor’s reign. It was a large book with a black, dusty cover. Reading the code of laws, our hero involuntarily remembered his dream, but at that time Denis (whom everyone called Denis and we will also call him that) came to him

“I’ll tell you something else,” Denis interrupted. But after some silence, they started laughing at the fact that they were fighting over a book.
“Come to my place, I have a nice cup of tea.”
“Why not?”
He was always happy with her, and he liked her. He was jailed for life because he punched the director of the store where he worked as a development manager in the face (he called Denis a thief, but this was not true). Who had worked the case so far that a life sentence for such a trivial crime was his salvation from exile from the Empire.
Exile was the most terrible punishment, when a person is expelled from the universe on a spaceship and not allowed back. How could she have known then that in a year’s time he would be jailed and she would find a new friend in Denis? And Vector died six months ago, at the hands of a political prisoner who took a fancy to a young boy. Klara was very saddened by the loss of her best friend and made love to Denis, although she felt nothing but friendship for him. She began to wonder, and guessed that Dorn had set him up. She thought about how to get revenge on him and she had an insidious plan of revenge. But you couldn’t use it here. And she, lying on the bed with Denis, said

But let’s leave them for a while, they can’t talk right now, because they are busy with each other. I want to tell you about life in the empire of the constellation “Islands”. Every citizen, here they were called” zino”(translated from the ancient language-resident, cohabitant) He could almost reach the Imperial Throne, although the Emperor had never changed in the history of the empire. But according to the law, this is possible. There are many legends about the Emperor. An example is that he came up with his 200 laws by the age of 16, that the imperial throne was not easy for him, but because of his strong willpower, all difficulties were painless and easy. In the empire, almost everyone lived well, and the economic growth was very large.
The emperor wants to conquer the entire universe. In all the cities of the empire, everyone lived in anticipation of war, although one did not know whether it would come or not. The backbone of the emperor’s army was made up of space pilots, who after graduation will be led by Leonid. The emperor also has a beautiful daughter, Kira, who is courted by all the governors of the empire, but she is waiting for a better fate.
After that conversation, an hour passed and Denis caught Klara in the dining room and said – " I need to sign up as a volunteer in the army and then our plan will succeed, because this is the only way I will be released.
Said and done, they had no trouble enlisting in the empire’s regular forces. And the order to start military operations was given a month after the recording of our friends. They were put on an interuniverse ship with other soldiers.
Klara and Denis sat down next to each other. Denis said, “War is part of my plan.” But she wasn’t thinking about it, he was thinking about Dasha.

But the most painful memory for him was the pain of losing Vector, the only friend and lover with whom she cheated on Dasha. But she tried not to think about it and fell asleep on her friend’s shoulder.
When the ship landed at the sorting point T-1723. Denis woke Clara up and they left the ship together. At the exit, they were met by the captain of Ju-Ko, a Chinese man in his forties. He gave the command “form up” and the entire squad of our friends from 20 people formed up. Ju-Ko said, “My name is Ju-Ko, I’m in charge here, my rank is Major.
Everyone understood that the war would bring a lot of pain and suffering, and he said – " We are going to punish neighboring planets in a month, and we will conquer the entire universe, but it depends on you, we don’t need “cannon fodder” we need smart soldiers (after some thought). I hope I’ll meet you in a month when you complete your training. Sergeant Dominguez will be in charge of your squad.” And Ju-Ko pointed to the person standing next to him. He was a tall, dark-skinned man with a commanding voice and incredibly strong eyes. Dominguez gave the word “stand down” and everyone left for practice.
After lights out, she lay in Denis’s arms, and remembered a story that happened on Saturn. He was sent there for zhika (in Myriad words “summer, heat”). She said goodbye to Dasha for a long time and promised to return as soon as possible. She jokingly said – " Do not find someone there on the side.” And as you might have guessed, she found herself “someone” named Kira. She was with her for two months, but it was time to say goodbye and she left her (she was much prettier than Dasha, she was studying to be an interstellar strategist). Upon returning, Dasha realized that something was wrong, but she couldn’t find a better one. She endured all her infidelities and after each infidelity gave her a gift (this only provoked her). Her last gift was a watch (he had a whole big shelf of Dasha’s gifts!!!). It was a clockwork watch, not too large, and hung on a gold chain. And Clara carried them in her black purse, which she took with her almost always.
A month of training had passed, and the strong sound of the morning siren woke them up and they woke up. The squad washed up, packed up their things, and headed for the exit. Clara couldn’t believe that she had become a soldier. But of course not an astronaut pilot, but a simple infantryman. She looked at Denis, and for the first time noticed the fear in his eyes.
“What’s wrong with you, Denis?”
“I had a dream where you were going to be killed.”
“It’s just a nightmare, don’t mind it.”
“Okay, but just promise me you’ll be careful.”
“I promise,” she said, knowing that he loved her, but she didn’t feel anything back.
And they went to the spaceship (here they were called kerkores). They sat in very comfortable, individual seats. Klara spent the entire flight in silence, listening to music from the planet of the Abandoned Singers. “It would be nice to go there” but maybe she won’t live to see better times. And in general, where we are going, according to local pilots, they are flying to a neighboring constellation called” Dragon “on a planet under the code number C-5831 (in common parlance"Tashnilovka”).
They didn’t fly long, about two hours. Then suddenly everything was quiet, they landed, and Dominguez said,’ Come on, ‘and the passageway opened. The strangest thing is that the weapons were distributed only at the exit. The weapon was such that wearing a special helmet, everyone could shoot a special laser cannon located in the ear area. The helmet reacted to pressing a finger in the opposite direction of the weapon (it’s strange why they were not given laser submachine guns or at least blasters)
After some adaptation to weapons, our friends went to the desert area of the planet (the planet was not friendly, it was all desert, but with a normal human climate and pressure, and air, and because of this was so necessary for the empire). The squad followed them.
Suddenly, Clara saw a creature standing in front of her. It was a large, three-meter-tall, strong human-like creature. But it was not clearly visible, because the fog had descended. As she got closer, she saw a gorilla-like creature holding a crossbow. Dominguez gave the order to destroy the creature and Ti Golden Eagle (one of Dominguez’s squad, the evil man) killed the creature.
Clara thought that there were only such creatures waiting for them on this planet. And so it turned out all the creatures were killed. And the Emperor’s army will have to go to another planet. The other planet was called C-200 Rectum. Klara, seeing her, said::
– “This planet resembles Myriads in beauty, with its hills and forests” (On this planet in the poles there lived creatures that tore out the guts of everyone who came near them, and in general the planet was lousy)
This time, they were also given laser blasters. And Denis joked “Now it will be possible to shoot at least someone”
And our friends and the squad went ahead (according to the pilots ' rumors, intelligent creatures lived here, who created a rich culture and powerful weapons). Clara didn’t care what kind of creature was on this planet, because she had nothing to lose. After all, if she came back, Dorn might do something else, she just wanted to see Dasha. Dominguez stood in front of the squad and began to talk about security, looking as if he was afraid or didn’t know what to expect in the future.
He said that in case of danger on this planet, weapons will not save them here, because the creatures of “drugina” (as he called them) are smarter than humans. It was the words that startled Clara. A day passed after that, but they didn’t find anyone.
On the third day, a message came from headquarters, asking everyone to come to the decisive battle near the equator. An order is an order, and they went there. The enemy’s army was very strong, they defended in rocky places. “Drugins” were similar to people with very thin, but very strong bones, with an ashen skin color and a large head in relation to the body and a height of 1.5 meters.
After two days of fighting, the humans hadn’t lost a single person. The headquarters sent a new weapon, invented by the Emperor himself, it was something extraordinary, it did not work on people, but it worked on all other enemies (According to scientists, this weapon is the most humane in the world). Denis even said, “What a smart Emperor we have” (although he was imprisoned as a political convict and he hated him). The weapon looked like a simple “Nikozino” (machine gun in Myriad). Special beams did not touch the person – this was achieved by the peculiarity of the human body (With the advent of this weapon, neither the helmet nor the laser pistol left the equipment)
Although the new gun arrived, the “drugins"were not going to give up. The fifth day of the battle passed, but there was no long-awaited victory. Word spread through the trenches that the Emperor was personally coming to inspect. They began to lay carpets everywhere, distributed new parade uniforms, forced everyone to clean ships and cut down trees, so that the Emperor would have a place to put his camping tent.
And he came in a big interuniversity battleship. He descended the ramp to the cheers and applause of cheering soldiers, propaganda working well and many brainwashed. The emperor looked very handsome, dressed all in white, with a very strong gaze that made people both feel calm and fearful.
The emperor said – " My valiant warriors! We have started the biggest war in the universe, the annexation of planets. And we will not back down at the very beginning of it. Can a handful of drugins stop us?” The ruler’s gaze fell on Klara, who was standing in the first row, she was very different from everyone else in her beauty (there were many girls in the army, but not one can compare with her). The blue military dress uniform was very becoming to her, and blue high-heeled shoes completed the beautiful look.
Without another word, he took up his weapons and flew to conquer this planet. He agreed with all the leaders of the’ drugina ‘to hold a referendum, bribing the nobility. Drugins will pay taxes peacefully and have some autonomy. The Emperor flew away, and our friends stood with their mouths hanging open, not knowing what to say. What they saw was impossible.
Klara and Denis went to the headquarters, where they were told that they were going on tomorrow. They were not surprised and went to the barracks, where they had to spend the night together in a separate room for couples. And in the morning go to the planet “Gippersun” (According to the newspaper “Emperor in the people” says that on the planet “Gippersun” troops will not meet any resistance)
When they woke up, they washed up and ate “grikuni” (something that resembles the shape and taste of potatoes). Klara noticed that the squad was excited because Hun (one of our friends ' squad) had heard on the radio about the losses of the Imperial Army. (The newspapers reported that army soldiers were being forced to kill all their enemies. On the “Islands”, the Emperor allowed freedom of printing and freedom of speech, but of course up to a certain limit, which was handled by the propaganda service). Dominguez, knowing that people would be worried, asked the headquarters for bulletproof vests for the entire squad. And only then did they agree to fly. (But a bulletproof vest won’t help in battle, it only calmed people down morally)
In the early years, the empire was only a union of the planets Myriad and Mars, and eventually the Emperor began to colonize their spiral constellation “Islands”. Having conquered the entire constellation, the Emperor stopped and began to develop the economy, morality, and well-being of citizens. And by the time Clara was born, that plan had been fulfilled. The plan contained the construction of a material circle, at the top of the circle the upper class, at the bottom the middle class. The plan included a program to eliminate the lower class, but don’t worry, elimination is when every unemployed person was given a job and every homeless person was able to live a better life. This plan was called “new life,” as the Emperor called it, but who he was, that was a question that time had decided on their planets. Many people have seen the Emperor, but you can’t remember him for long. In the beginning, all the free systems were sent messages about the treaty, about the unauthorized entry into the empire by referendum and the introduction of special units of the “purple boys”. And some of them responded positively.
Klara flew to conquer a new planet, and at this time Denis was playing chess, he arranged a tournament on it and only she was able to beat him once (but after that Denis did not give in to him and he lost 58 times, he lost because she started licking her plump lips and he made the wrong move). Klara, after losing, went to discuss the flight with Tanya (a soldier from a neighboring unit, kind, beautiful, and even smart in some aspects of power and life. She was better dressed than the others, with expensive shoes and a silver flask with the mirror and makeup bag that Clara had always wanted.) Tanya said when they met in the ship’s aisle: “Hi, what’s so sad about losing chess to Denis again?”
“No one can win it, but I beat him once!” she said with a very big smile.

“Clara is still capable of many things,” she said, very pleased and proud of herself.
And so, in conversation and games, they flew to the Gippersoon. When they landed, they saw a large city of clay houses no more than six meters high, and in the center was a huge palace. The inhabitants of this planet were giant birds “Lykos” (similar to eagles) able to talk to each other.
Dominguez didn’t give the order, because everyone knew what to do. They went out, weapons were handed out, and they rushed into battle. Klara thought “Now I will fight” and with these thoughts she entered the city.
The Lycos were very brave, although not all of them had guns. Some had submachine guns in their paws that fired strange blue lasers. Denis climbed to the roof of one of the houses and began to shoot with a blaster, after which everyone did the same, and it became easier to kill enemies. The fight became more fun (The “Lycos” had green eyes and red blood).
Klara saw that his friends (everyone from the squad became his friends, some even “closer”) Kurume picked up one of the Lycos and began to lift it up. There was nothing she could do but watch as his friend was carried into the palace (even though it was being destroyed by Imperial fighters). And oddly enough, Klara recalled one ridiculous situation at that moment. She once went to the library, and he was not given more than one book due to the fact that the librarian did not like the beautiful girl that her young intern looked at, for whom she had plans, and she went to one of her enemies and asked a book. They had been fighting since childhood, unable to share the same girl they both loved. On this basis, they constantly fought and argued, and it was, as you understand, Dasha. But this book made friends with the enemies (A book called the wind” Wind” of the Emperor included in the compulsory school curriculum). And this friend of his was Vector. He said-If you kiss me then you’ll get a book – he thought that his enemy would never do that, but Clara was not so simple and so gently kissed him and after they were close for the first time that they became friends. But her best friend was gone, and she didn’t want to lose anyone else – not today.
Klara, along with Denis and Tanya, went to rescue Kirume, the bird flew to the palace and they went after it on a three-seat flying vehicle.
The castle was huge, though it had almost been destroyed by the army, but even now it was still something to admire. Long columns towered into the sky, and anti-aircraft guns were working hard to shoot down bombers.
Our friends entered the palace amid the noise of shells, but without fear of anything, they went ahead to the throne room. Where the king of this planet himself was sitting (a strong and very intelligent bird with a golden crown and a white spot on his chest, this was his distinctive feature), he was not alone, but with a guard of 12 birds. Our heroes began to kill them mercilessly. Blood and chunks of meat were all over her gleaming knife. Klara killed the tsar by cutting his neck. They moved on. Finally, they found one of the hidden staircases of the palace (it was built into the wall, and it was necessary to turn a small statuette, which Denis accidentally turned when he slipped on something slippery). Tanya went down first, Klara second, and Denis covered them. There were torches everywhere on this staircase, so there must be someone here. They went down for a long time, and during this time Klara remembered his life. She remembered Dasha and Kira, and they bothered her. She didn’t know what lay ahead, but there would be life without these three beings lost somewhere in the universe on one of the planets. Clara knew that she wasn’t living in vain.
Chapter 3 Dark and humid
“Klara is at the end of the stairs, and there’s a door behind it,” Tanya said, and thought that she shouldn’t have said it, because Klara was all pale from her thoughts.
– “Are you all right” – Denis asked, he couldn’t help but help his beloved.
“I’m all right,” Clara said, but it wasn’t true, because her thoughts had weakened her.
Without saying anything, Tanya held out the flask to her, and Klara drank some water, looked in the mirror and adjusted her makeup, and felt better. They reached the door and Denis opened it. They saw a maze at least fifteen meters high ahead (they were standing at the top). They went down the rope ladder (it is included in the equipment). Klara knew that you had to go to the right side of the maze to get to the other side, so they said on propogand TV.
Everyone expressed their opinion, and they went along the right edge (the walls of the maze were made of brick). They walked until Clara saw the lever, and when she pressed it, she fell into the pit. It rolled down the pipes to the bottom. Denis and Tanya were shocked when it all happened. So they went looking for her.
Klara woke up in a room (a room poorly lit, with a wet floor and damp air). And suddenly she saw a large creature (2 meters, and Klara 1.75 cm), all covered with scales, with a tongue like a snake. Clara was seized with a terrible horror. He tried to find at least some weapons, but all the weapons broke when he fell. Only the knife remained!!! (the only primitive weapon in the Emperor’s forces, but it was the one that most often saved soldiers from death). She took out her knife and flashed it right into the monster’s eyes. The monster staggered back, blinded. Klara took advantage of this and attacked the green enemy with a cry. The green thing didn’t expect this from the frail girl, so she plunged the knife into his hand. But the creature didn’t even notice. “The fight will be scary. But this fight may be my last!?! " – the girl thought at this moment. The creature flicked the knife aside with a bloody grin and lunged at her. The knife was too far away, and Clara quickly jumped back, tearing her pants, otherwise she would have inevitably fallen into the green thing’s mouth. The mouth snapped shut a millimeter from the girl’s nose. And with an incredible jerk, she managed to get the knife out.
