Оглавление“There’s something beautiful about summer. And with the summer, the beauty is in us” – quoting Sergei Yesenin, we decided to dedicate the summer issue of the Positive Changes Journal to the beautiful. Cinematography is called one of the greatest inventions of the humankind. One of the films that profoundly influenced the development of expressive means in cinema is Battleship Potemkin, recognized as “the best film of all times.” According to Sergei Eisenstein, the mastermind behind the film, artistic brilliance is not merely a result of instinctive creativity. Rather, it stems from a deliberate and meticulous placement of impact elements. Eisenstein emphasized the significance of analyzing and calculating the intended impact beforehand. This strategic approach was paramount to him.
The main topic of this issue is the evaluation of the social impact of media content – in particular, that of film products. We invited experts to join the discussion, in order to understand how impact evaluation in film works today, in addition to the likely “points of growth” in this area. The guest of the issue is Victor Petrenko, Doctor of Psychology and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who spent the last 50 years looking for answers to complex research questions – including the effectiveness of film, social advertising and many other “immeasurable” categories. This issue also includes a new column, “In Simple Words,” to match the summer mood. It will feature articles that are closer to essays, representing their authors’ views and reflections on topics of social significance. As proven by the very first publication in this column, even poetry can be appropriate in presenting the author’s view.
While materials in other columns are perhaps less poetic, they are in-depth and informative as usual. In this issue, you can also dive into the topic of risk assessment, explore the “harvesting” method, and take a detailed look at research cases related to evaluating the effectiveness of social and media projects. Isn’t this a good reason to grab your copy of Positive Changes Journal heading into the summer? After all, the time is just right to look beyond the horizon and admire the beautiful.
